Is anyone expecting AmEx to run another bonus points promotion before the devaluation kicks in next month? Has there ever been a Krisflyer one, similar to Velocity, where you can get up to 15%/20% extra points?

Answering my own question, Qantas was unable/unwilling to check through my luggage. Getting a supervisor involved and showing the internal note did not make a difference. Very frustrating and thus a complete waste of points!

The most recent comments (also from people who brought a print out of the doc) show mixed results (staff saying that the doc is no longer the current policy) but they're all from a few months ago. I was hoping to hear about some more recent experiences.

Just ring them, get them to confirm your eligibility and then kindly ask them if they can prioritise the points for you. I told them I had my eyes on a redemption flight and was hoping to book asap. I did this and got the points in a matter of hours (and then transferred them out).

3 or 4 hours in my case.

The Explorer defaults to Gateway so if it's no longer linked to another AmEx, it will be Gateway. If you want to verify, either use the mobile app and check (on the home screen) in the grey box. It's right above your points balance (but you may need to spend something first). Alternatively...

Mine had the $395 on there when I first activated the card but I've heard of quite a few situations similar to yours. I'd be happy if they were to charge me late rather than early! Have you got access to your $400 travel credit though?
