Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

They’d go down in a ball of flames if you took them to the Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Regardless of what they say they will accept as evidence of loss, your testimony as to your loss constitutes admissible evidence. But yes, having receipts is so much easier.

Article: How to Stop Airlines Losing Your Checked Baggage

Last weekend, flying CDG-SYD via SGN on Vietnam Airlines. Wife’s two checked bags didn’t arrive, baggage services said they’d been sent to the US on Delta (no conceivable reason why). They gave me the lost bag report form, which had no contact number, but suggested contacting them by email and...

When to get to SYD airport for 11:10am departure?

And sometimes all goes well. In the Q at Qantas ticket line this morning at 739am, in the immigration line at 755, walking into the lounge at 814.

When to get to SYD airport for 11:10am departure?

That’s appalling. I’m flying tomorrow, for some reason I can’t check in online - maybe because I’m transiting in SIN and getting on another flight, so I need to check in in person to get both BP’s.

    Unlawful Tokyo transfer

Ordinarily, of course, transiting wouldn’t be a problem, as long as you can stay airside. It’s the enforced transfer that caused the headache. The search engine should highlight stuff like that.

    Unlawful Tokyo transfer

What’s with you? It wasn’t lawful, which should have been signalled by big bold warnings, if it was to be offered at all, which it shouldn’t have been. They should NOT have assumed it WOULD be lawful when I was travelling. They should have made clear that the routing involved having to obtain a...

    Unlawful Tokyo transfer

?? I would expect Qantas NOT to offer me a routing which it knew full well was not lawful. By doing so it left me in the position of being denied boarding if I hadn’t checked. As it was I missed out on other possible return flights because I only found out some months later, when there was very...

    Unlawful Tokyo transfer

I used points for a return business class trip to Europe. The Qantas search engine offered me a return leg from Frankfurt via Tokyo on JAL, which sounded good, so I took it. A month or so later, when I go to put the flight details into my calendar, I notice that the ticketing has me going into...

When to get to SYD airport for 11:10am departure?

Sadly, since retiring I’ve not been flying enough to retain Platinum, so as a lowly Lifetime Gold I can’t get into the Flounge. I miss it so.

When to get to SYD airport for 11:10am departure?

Thanks SYD. I should have added, I’m just transiting through SIN en route to LHR on QF1, so on my understanding I won’t need the SIN paperwork.

When to get to SYD airport for 11:10am departure?

Hi folks, after the long drought, I’m finally up and awaying again, QF81 Sydney-Singapore in J. Departing 11.10 am, no bags to check. I thought getting there by 0830 would be completely fine, and leave ample time for breakfast at the lounge. Any thoughts?

Dearth of Business Saver awards from June onwards

I’m sure that’s right, Matt, I have no SQ status these days. Thankfully I’ve got QF Lifetime Gold as a backup. I still reckon though that SQ will release seats later.

Dearth of Business Saver awards from June onwards

I’m wondering whether they’re waiting to release the cheap seats at the last minute, once the prospective cautious travellers have secured their return seats at 150k each.

Dearth of Business Saver awards from June onwards

And yet there is no shortage of FRA-SYD daily Saver seats at 116k until 31 May 2022, but come June they aren’t around!

Dearth of Business Saver awards from June onwards

Ever hopeful, having cancelled my planned award trip to Europe in April-May because of the dreaded C, I'm now looking for seats in September-October, but for the life of me I can't find any Business Saver seats back to Sydney from pretty well anywhere after beginning June. Plenty before then. Do...
