Cathay Pacific Economy Seats Extremely uncomfortable

7 months on - how are CX progressing with improvements to their seats? I will never forget the horror of the January trip to Italy and back. Are we there yet?

QF Award Seats on Jetstar Metal - Where to check in your baggage?

Thank you ozbeachbabe for clarifying that. I now recall paying the $20 on a SYD/MEL flight with QF for a bag weighing about the same. The $30 came from a quick look at the QF website.

QF Award Seats on Jetstar Metal - Where to check in your baggage?

According to our experience today, JQ will allow QF's 23kg limit but charge $15 for each kg above that. Makes Australia Posts Express Post look cheap! QF baggage excess policy currently charges $30 for excess baggage between 23kg and maximum of 32kgs per bag.

QF Award Seats on Jetstar Metal - Where to check in your baggage?

That is right - full points charge plus taxes.

QF Award Seats on Jetstar Metal - Where to check in your baggage?

This allows JQ to charge their huge excess baggage rates. Today, we found this out on a SYD/MEL codeshare flight. Qantas domestic (flying on their planes) have been charging a flat $30 excess baggage rate up to 32kg for their own aircraft. We had accidentally (perhaps unknowingly) booked a JQ...

Cathay Pacific Economy Seats Extremely uncomfortable

Many thanks for the link. It points to the patch up job needed in June 2010 to try to make these dreadful seats safer. "The carrier's CEO, Tony Tyler, was quoted by media as saying his airline's Economy seats had "rigid shells", which could create problems in the event of a head impact, and...

Cathay Pacific Economy Seats Extremely uncomfortable

That is fascinating. To fit into that space they must be tiny airbags. I've an image of 300 odd car type airbags all going pop at once in the cabin. Can you give any more information? Are they designed to protect the head or the midriff?

Cathay Pacific Economy Seats Extremely uncomfortable

Couldn't agree more. We did SYD/MILAN and ROME/SYD last month. The worst seats I have ever come across - and I remember some shonky seats on Brittania and Aloha Airlines. The Cathay shell concept appeals in theory but nothing is worth the suffering brought about by those pain inducing seats -...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

A very positive development has come about. We have reshuffled - with some difficulty - things at this end - enabling us to arrive home on the 26th. So, I have just rung Cathay Pacific and asked about availability of the flights on those days. They needed to contact FC but the end result was...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

We did all of this (accommodation, transfers, trains etc etc) directly with the providers. We asked FC for a quote on the accommodation but the rates were out of the ball park.

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

I like this post from NM (a Moderator) on 2 March 2007 (under the title 'Virgin Blue Flight Cancelled Again') on the subject of cancelled flights. I can't yet post links. Not that it will help us - but given the inconvenience it would be nice to know why Cathay cancelled. I like the idea of...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

Going back, I have experienced this type of travel agent - and I feel sure that they still exist - even in FC. I wonder if the "don't tell the customer about changes to their flight schedules that occurred 3 months ago" approach to customer service is cultural thing across the organisation. Or...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

Sounds triffling. The thing is it isn't just one person ... there are 3 adult airfares totalling over $7,000. A holiday cost well in excess of $15,000 for 15 days which has been cut through no fault of ours to 14 days on the ground. IMHO I'm struggling to think of any other mainstream industry...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

Thanks to everyone - the help and feedback has been tremendous. CX appear to do just one FCO/HKG flight per day every day - except Tuesday's which is the day they cancelled. After getting the confirmed e-tickets back in July we went on line to choose our seats. My recollection is that - even in...

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

"Things change when you get a travel agent involved. I will never use one again unless I absolutely have to. Most of them are muppets." Couldn't agree more. This is the first time in recent years that we have used an agent .... and sure enough a .... up ensued.

Cathay Pacific and Flight Centre customer focused???

In July last year we walked into Flight Centre, Neutral Bay and told them we wanted to fly to Italy for a holiday on 8/1/2012 and return on 25/1/12. We told them that we liked what Emirates were offering for the flights. They talked us into flying Cathay Pacific on the basis that Cathay offer...
