Renewal date for me is next month so I called to cancel the card today. Operator asked me why and I told her due to points capping, which she definitely knew about. re: EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate? I have been bumped up from J to F twice flying SYD-BKK (although the return leg was booked in F both times so maybe that helped?). Also, Emirates offers chauffeur drive on the Asia routes.

Couldn't agree more on this point. I have flown Emirates twice and I have been upgraded twice without asking. I have never ever ever been offered an upgrade on Qantas metal as they love to fill J with staff members.

Some employees are jumping for joy. My friends mum received over $200k (plus super) for taking voluntary redundancy from Qantas after working there for 40 odd years. She is 65 and was going to retire at the end of this year. Nuts!!

I hold both the advantage plus card (paid) and the platinum membership card. When booking hotels online, the advantage plus card always gives me a cheaper rate - around $10 to $30 cheaper per night for the same room. The adv+ card also has dining benefits whilst the platinum card doesn't.

Update - Citibank rang me this morning and I was told all fixed - my current credit card has been 'upgraded' to fee free for life status. Very happy with that and thanks again to AFFers for great advice!!
