    Q bag tags

No you can't. My husband had his suitcase repaired and we lost his tag but each time we went to check in his case we were being charged for additional luggage. We had to get ground staff to override it. Turns out the q-tag had been left between the lining and the shell during the repair but was...

Best way to travel J using points MEL-FCO

True - but I still felt $600 each was OK. It was a lot less than flying via Dubai - that would have doubled the charges.

Best way to travel J using points MEL-FCO

I too am a lowly bronze member and have only once tried for an upgrade - and got it. However I like to know that I'm definitely booked in business class so always use points rather than hoping for an upgrade. My husband and I flew to Rome last year business class on points - I didn't want to...

Help! Looking for Business award space MEL-LAX for 2

Have you tried QF from Brisbane - LAX - you need to be flexible. That is the only way I found 2 seats from LAX to get home to MEL in business as for months I couldn't get two seats directly to Melbourne (or Sydney). From memory the points are the same with the extra domestic leg added in.

Beware the complicated conditions of card travel insurance

I am planning on utilising the ANZ Black Card insurance for a forthcoming trip. It is one of the few credit cards insurances that will insure you for pre-existing conditions at a minimal cost. As we are flying return business class flights using points I queried whether the points were insured...

Aquire 10K bonus for using a new partner and double flight points

Done! Now we need some paper and a new wallchart planner for next year. I also used ISelect recently because I was unhappy with Medibank Private (probably played into their hands by leaving at an age when they'd be likely to start paying out more) and surprisingly got 5290 points in my QFF...

Best way for my situation to use QFF points

I rarely travel for work - once or twice a year and once or twice a year (returns) for leisure all domestically so don't pick up very many points that way. My husband and I accrue our points by using the Woolworth's (HSBC) Mastercard (1 QFF = $1 no limit), the Woolworth's Everyday Rewards...

    Preferred way to book hotels

I always look at hotwire.com before any other site. I have stayed at some really good hotels for less than $100 but the catch is you don't know the name of the hotel until you book and you can't cancel - I've had Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Hyatt and boutique hotels. On one rare occasion I booked a...

How do you remain clean and sane when travelling in whY long-haul?

You could join Priority Pass (prioritypass.com) - you can use their lounges whether you are flying or not and membership is a lot lower than the airline lounges. If you have an AMEX platinum charge you get free membership. We have used their lounges when flying Ryanair or one of the other...

A380 Upgrade to Premium Economy from LAX to Melb using Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

Re: A380 Upgrade to Premium Economy from LAX to Melb using Qantas Frequent Flyer Poin Yes, I booked 2 PE Classic Award seats MEL-LHR on full points (+taxes) on-line. I also did the same on BA (LHR to Vancouver) through the Qantas site and thought that the number of points required was much...

A380 Upgrade to Premium Economy from LAX to Melb using Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

Re: A380 Upgrade to Premium Economy from LAX to Melb using Qantas Frequent Flyer Poin We used 100% points for PE on A380 (MEL-LHR) to guarantee we got it. It reminded us of the old international business class (before the beds). We were very impressed and it is definitely worth it on Qantas...

Help me find a better way to get to and from Melbourne airport

We always use Melrose Parking when travelling domestically for pleasure. They are very good and some people I know get their cars serviced there while they're away. If we are going away long term internationally and for work always Australian Chauffeur Driver - flat rate (where we live it is...

One time access to qantas club for group of 8 (5adults 3 young children)

Apart from the number of people you are trying to get into the Qantas Club, bear in mind if your flight does not have a QF prefix, you won't be admitted. We booked a 'Qantas' flight to Vanuatu but it was a code share and our ticket had an Air Vanuatu prefix on it, not Qantas and we (along with...

Best and worst experiences in Y class

Best - half empty QF flight SYD-HNL - plenty of room, relaxed cabin staff, reasonable food and wine. WORST EVER, BA LHR-YVR September last year. Flight 7 hours late departing (BA lounge closed at least an hour before that and turfed us out into the deserted terminal), overheated cabin with no...

    Qantas Emergency Exit Seats

Had the exit row in J class on a 747 (on points, no extra charge) from LA to Bris. a couple of months ago. Excellent. Had the seat reclined to the near flat bed and still had a large gap between it and the two crew seats in front of us. Crew only needed to use them twice for take off and...
