    Heads up about program changes

Understand that QF doesn't fly those routes, but they have a points and SC table for those sectors, so why can't they be included? If you had status, you have earned fewer points on these routes anyway as most (with the exception of AA) don't match the status bonus.

    Heads up about program changes

A request for RedRoo. It would be good if the points calculator would also calculate partner earn. My flights are almost always One World Circle fares, so I spend a lot of time on other carriers metal.

An invitation from Lesley Grant, Qantas Customer Loyalty CEO

Headed to Sydney event next week. Not sure what to expect. Bonus points to Qantas if they reserve a cabin for sleeping on red eyes. I need all the beauty sleep I can get on overnight hops through Asia.

Is Hilton Honours Diamond worth going for?

Diamond also get free Internet as a benefit... Hilton treat me well, I stay with them in Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo, and sometimes Beijing. The team in Tokyo are great (although I was one of the few westerners in town a few weeks after the tsunami, and most of the hotel was closed, so I got...

    QF A330 Business service

I spend a fair amount of time doing red eye flights around Asia. For Qantas legs, that would be NRT-SYD, SYD-NRT, HKG-SYD, SYD-HKG, and SIN-SYD. I typically head out from meetings in one country and in to meetings the next morning in another. The amount of rest time on a flight is pretty...

Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I have 2 L tickets on QF11/QF3289 for 05OCT (SYD-LAX-DEN). Have put in online upgrade requests for both W and J upgrades (wishing I could request F upgrades cos I have plenty of points). Odds on getting this in J? As a WP+, is there an advantage to calling up to check on the status?

Checking baggage to final destination [Separate Bookings]

Hi Sir, Yup, LAX-SYD is QF12, and SYD-PVG is QF129. I then have to clear customs and immigration in PVG before I get on MU5186 to finish my day in PEK. I am thinking I need to have as much time as possible in the First Lounge after Y on LAX-SYD. At least I am J on the way to PVG. Matt

Checking baggage to final destination [Separate Bookings]

Re: Checking baggage to final destination Hey Serfty, Thanks for the reply. :D I spoke to the Qantas Platinum customer line, and they said that it wasn't possible as they are on different tickets. I will have both with me in LAX, so will give it a go. Partner and I fly out on QF11 tomorrow...

Checking baggage to final destination [Separate Bookings]

Hey All, I am in LAX for the weekend, and land back in Sydney on Monday morning. 2.5 hours later, I fly out to PEK via PVG. Can I check my baggage from LAX-SYD-PVG (where I think I will have to clear customs) and then check again to PEK? LAX-SYD and SYD-PVG-PEK are on separate bookings, but...

    Building a stronger Qantas

I spend a lot of time flying around Asia. On the whole, I think the announcements will be good for me, Qantas I know and love on long haul, with a branch network of close partners (where I will get status bonus and stronger recognition) The current OneWorld routes mean I transit Hong Kong...

Canberra - alternatives to taxis at airport (besides bus!)?

The Sydney-sider in me says that the best thing to do when you arrive in Canberra is to walk back in to the terminal and find a flight right back out again.... ;)

    Upgrading a Global Explorer Fare

Hey All, For the first time in over a decade, I am actually planning an overseas holiday. Partner and I are on a RTW Global Explorer fare from OW in L, with the long hauls in and out of Australia on QF. I am pretty confident that I will be able to points upgrade our pair of seats on the...

Underwhelmed by first QF flight as WP

I spend most of my time flying around asia, so I don't have much to say about the sectors between North America and Australia. Also, much of my flying is on red eyes, so I actually appreciate a minimal touch (let me get to sleep and wake me up as late as you can) Having said that, I find...

    JL First Lounge at Narita

Hey All, JAL have reworked the lounges they have on the satellite terminal 2 in Narita. The First lounge out there is usually quiet, and there is no shortage of staff maintaining the lounge, so service is great. Matt

Is Qantas having more incidents or has there just been more reporting of it?

I looked back over the list of incidents at the Aviation Herald, and from what I could see, inflight engine problems are nearly a daily occurrence at a global level. Unconfined Engine Failures (where bits explode/fly out) of the engine are much rarer. Given that Rolls Royce have identified...
