No problem with doing this at two different lounges. In fact I've done this at the same lounge before by putting it through as two seperate transcations. This only works if the attendent allows you to do it.

I just received my renewal card and cut up the old one. While the outter shell is plastic it does have a piece of actual metal plate in the centre of the card, covering about 70% of the card surface. That's probably why the card felt more rigid than most other cards.
