    Delays at US immigration

Though I missed a chance last night to submit a question to the US Ambassador and our (Aust's) Foreign Affairs Minister, both of whom were on the ABC's Q& A panel. Wonder what Bob Carr would have said.

    Delays at US immigration

Very interesting. If so, isn't there scope for adjustment of current US- Aust political& defence relations to make a similar situation possible here? (How many Irish troops are serving in Afghanistan?)

    Delays at US immigration

Yes, what you say makes sense. I'd like to travel to the US again without too many additional obstacles at port of entry so I'll probably keep my mouth shut.

    Florida requires IDP for driving

What international treaties might apply to Florida ( and other states)? Can't find anything about this topic on the DFAT smart traveller website United States of America | Travel advice | Smartraveller: The Australian Government's travel advisory and consular assistance service (The UK...

    Delays at US immigration

Most replies so far seem to accept the status quo. Sure, an hour standing in a queue isn't a long time if you're spending a few days or more in the USA (as I did in Oct/Nov) but when you are subject to treatment which is at best inconsiderate at worst Rude then it leaves a bitter taste in the...

    Delays at US immigration

It's good to know that some people are able to benefit from the preclearance system Preclearance Locations - CBP.gov which makes me ask again why,if it applies in a distant country like Ireland it can't be extended to here (& the UK)

    Question re "pre-existing" medical conditions

In other words the devil in in the detail. It'd be interesting to know what "Under control" might mean...or be interpreted to mean.

Why can't there be a similar system in Australia (and for that matter the UK)?

    Delays at US immigration

QF029 - you make it sound as if I got red(dish) carpet treatment at JFKT4. US citizens did get priority then also but I recall that officials were redeployed from the US citizens lines to others as the imbalance in queue lengths became so great that it must have roused even the supervisors...

    Delays at US immigration

Dk4, Thanks for this. When I did a search for JFK T4 Mondays in October it said "No data available for selection criteria".

    Delays at US immigration

Last Oct I flew Virgin Atalntic LHR-JFK. The immigration lines at JFK moved very slowly (considerably slower than on my previous two visits in 2006 & 2008): it took more than an hour to be processed (with an ESTA). It's a few months down the track I know but is there any point in drawing this to...

    USA Visa Dilemma

Re: USA Dillemma Be cautious and go for the visa. ESTA didn't stop me being asked stupid questions (eg whether my surname was French) by an overtime seeking JFK immigration officer last Oct. He interrupted my interrogation while he made a note to himself in his diary to the effect that he'd...
