SYD J lounge first time...How long?

I think it's special and would allow 3 hours as suggested for food, drinks, and a shower :)

    Sydney to Tel Aviv

Hi everyone Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. I was wondering if anybody knows the most direct route from Sydney to Tel Aviv, and which airline to be looking at. I would prefer oneworld, however Qantas don't seem to fly there and BA go through LHR which looks exhausting...

Can I take photos in the aircraft?

Please just don't use the flash while cabin lights are dimmed and the people around you are trying to sleep :)

    Sydney airport hotels: best value?

I've used the stamford a number of times. It's generally good and pretty cheap. I second the suggestion to stay in the city though, can get a cab pretty quickly and cheaply - especially since it will be so early!

    QF Status Reassessment

More questions! Status has updated now to Qantas Club Silver with the Qantas club set to expire on 31 July this year. I wasn't a paid Qantas club member before I was gold - can anyone shed any light? Thank you!

    QF Status Reassessment

Hello, Bit confused about my status reassessment. My date for reassessment was yesterday, I lost all my sc's as of today and have earnt some new ones from a flight today. I was SG, and have flown lots of segments, however haven't got anything like enough SC's to retain gold. My summary...

Noise cancelling headphones, flight attendants and travelers who are tools...

This is great to read! I often wonder whether I should alert cabin crew when fellow pax start doing interesting things. Once on a flight to Perth I had the lady next to me ask me if I knew 'how to work these mobile phones, that text messaging is tricky isn't it.' I told her phones weren't...

    eStandby upgrades: comments, thoughts

Last year we booked an exec room at Pitt St Hilton, put in for estandby upgrade to a relaxation room. They charged us the extra and put us in a king suite! Reception couldn't believe we had the room at such low cost.

    Extra guests into QP

I was let into QP Sydney T2 last week wtih a guest pass, flying Aeropelican. I was upfront about knowing this was against the rules but tried to be as polite as I could.. Perhaps more evidence to support the who's there and how polite you are argument.

    Those safety demonstrations

Thanks - interesting to know. I always found it hilarious - probably far more appropriate use of the word on JQ. A very subtle difference QF - between a dash 8 and a 747.

    Those safety demonstrations

There was an article in the Good Weekend a couple of years back that suggested that if you watched the safety demonstration intently, what to do would be in your mind and in case of emergency, your brain would know what to do. I took this to heart and ever since have paid great attention to...

'Weekend at Bernie's' women claim dead man was sleeping when caught at airport

I thought perhaps trying to smuggle him on the plane and then having him 'die' during the flight (perhaps after the cabin service, as suggested)! That way they don't have to get him off - and they don't have to pay to transport the corpse!

    Getting waved through customs

I was approached when I was walking towards customs at Sydney on my way back from a snowboarding trip in the US. The official said "Have you been snowboarding? - glad to see you're back in one piece" and stamped my card! I hope for the same next time!

    Flight Centre Incorrect Quote

If that is the case and you really don't have the money, you could definitely cancel the booking and have a refund. I think people are only suggesting that you may not both be able to go on the tour for the price you have paid, not that you must pay the extra money now.

    American domestic travel

I second the driving suggestion - it's great.. Also, I flew domestically in the US with Southwest. Definitely a no frills airline but bags are free and I found the service friendly!

    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

Just on the baggage carousel pet peeve; I accidentally hit somebody with my 25kg suitcase after saying 'excuse me' twice when I could see my bag was coming and they staunchly refused to move from their coveted position towering over the carousel. I almost didn't feel any remorse when she was...

    Using iPhone when overseas.

Like many others - I had vodafone switch off 3G before I got on the plane. Works a treat. No data charges but can use wifi everywhere.
