    Singapore Air not doing redemptions?

Has Singapore Air stopped taking redemption bookings? I booked some flights using miles back in Dec 22 but need to change some dates. Their site shows no available seats in any class from now to EOY - not even waitlist.

    SQ award charges

But you seem to miss the point. Americans using KF do not pay the say fees as us for equivalent journeys - they pay less than half. I would stick with KF if it was the same for us but it aint

    SQ award charges

I agree QF are just as bad. I have found SQ used to make plenty of award saver tickets available PER to Europe a few years back but now "not available" is more the case unless you move up to standard (nearly twice the points) or full (5 times the points). That's why i'm now flying Cathay

    SQ award charges

You're right about HK which surprises me that they would interfere but glad they do. I'm not sure what their authority would be when the CX flight is booked and paid in Oz. It would be coughbersome (if not impossible) for CAD in HK to try to monitor all through country flight charges

    SQ award charges

I don't think you are correct see my reply to lovetravellingoz. Most of the charges are carrier based - only airport/gov fees are regulated

    SQ award charges

Not quite sure you are correct when you say...."It does not charge the same high fees from some departure countries due that countries laws which control the fees charged". Countries can only control airport/gov fees and charges. they can't control carrier charges. The example I spoke of (PER...

    SQ award charges

I have a problem with the level off SQ award fees being charged in Australia. Here is one example. Book Business from Perth to CDG Saver return and you pay 170,000 points and $1059 if you can get a seat. Cathay (through HK) are 145,000 points and $332. That rankles but even more booking...

Best Price for Brisbane-London return in Business Class?

No but last year my brother in law and wife and 2 others flew Perth to Bali and then Qatar (I think I mistakenly said Etihad) to New York via Dohar and return with short stays in Bali both ways. Cost was just under $5000 return excluding Perth to Bali

Best Price for Brisbane-London return in Business Class?

If you don't mind a little detour the cheapest business return is buy a cheap $399 economy flight to Bali and an Etihad business flight to Paris or London. Etihad from Denpasar is less than $4000 return business class - sometimes I have seen it around $3300

Saver Award availability since March 1

I'm flying from PER to CDG and left my redemption booking until 1 Mar on the promise of better availability. Prior to 1 Mar all J fares for the SIN CDG leg were blocked out on Saver but available only on Standard. Since the change they are available on Saver. Ditto for return leg. Saves...

    Ticket price anomolies

Thanks for the responses. I must comment tho' that when booking hotels it is becoming universal for the hotel direct booking site to guarantee "best price available". it might be a good idea for the airlines to adopt a similar policy when offloading passengers onto code share partners

    Ticket price anomolies

Recently I booked a return flight with VB PER BME. Didn't take a lot of notice of the code sharing symbols when booking, thinking VB were making both flights. Surprised to see the return flight was with XR when emailed the confirmation. From curiosity I looked at the same flight with XR...

    QFF Ideas & Suggestions

Posting here is new to me and I must admit the acronym jargon wears me out but I'm sure it will embed itself soon. All this massive concentration on QF lounges puzzles me. When we travel we get to the airport as late as possible (to minimse time in the godawful place). Ocassionally we use the...

    QFF Ideas & Suggestions

I agree. Most of our travel is overseas to Europe or Asia and we normally buy coach tickets and use points to upgrade to business or first. I don't think I have ever been able to get a redemption seat or upgrade into Asia with QF. Their policy for using points to upgrade is also terrible...
