Qantas Frequent Flyer Overnight Outage 24-25 January

Unfortunately not my experience. Many elements are still responding with: A 12 hour outage is not a great indicator of the underlying platform and systems in operation. Explains a lot.

Mark Webber learns to fly-with help from QF.

Yes. Who are you again, where can I see you with qantas logos all over you? Don't see qantas getting any publicity for giving you time in the sim. He is one of the airline ambassadors, of course the PR is worth the expense. What next, do you want to replace Travolta on the pre flight safety...

    Etihad EY 88 MXP-AUH & EY454 AUH-SYD in J

Nice report, thanks. Good to hear the feedback on seats. My only experience was on an older fit aircraft, I found the seat to be extremely uncomfortable with almost no padding - on both legs. Goes to show how important consistency is!

WP treated with respect in Y class on QF108 saturday 18th June JFK-LAX

I wonder if there is a memo somewhere to remind CSM to do this. On my last 4 trips over the past month (2 international, 2 domestic) I have had a personal greeting and in-flight offer for access to higher class aperitifs. Nice touch although the SIN-MEL flight was interesting as 50% of the PE...

    WP1 and Mel/Lax/Mel

In your specific case i believe your behaviour to be outside of the norm and slightly insane  however, if it is the thrill of the chase that makes it fun for you (and i have no issue with that) then the rules are just guidelines for the game you play with QF and them changing them should...

Qantas Lounges Access - QFF Points bookings on PE/Bus/First

Paying to access any Admirals Club, especially LAX ... um, not my recommendation. Depending on your schedule you may be better getting a day room close by. I've never tried the showers in the AC but if they are anything like the rest facility then spend the $100 on some nice perfume and...

    WP1 and Mel/Lax/Mel

Well, they have already stated they will announce WPW. Regardless, if you were that important to them you would already be CL or otherwise taken care of. It is the people in the middle that are being tested.

    WP1 and Mel/Lax/Mel

Sure, but how many times do you want/need to be in LAX. QF are fully aware of the splits. They WANT the F passenger to achieve more easily. Thats the point. They don't want to mileage run / commuters to mingle with their paying F class clients ;) Suggest you wait until WPWhatever benefits...

Free Virgin Australia Lounge access for Qantas Gold and Platinum members

As one who missed the free comp last time - they just got some of my $$$. Trip booked (2 tix) to test the waters at no cost. Actually, I get to save some coin :) Interesting times given current sentiment...

    Nervous Need Reassurance

Ok, so it sounds like you are trying to rationalise and methodically go through your concernes. Great stuff. Looking at your list and reading other responses my suggestion is to keep doing what you are doing, challenge yourself to articulate exactly what it is stresses you and then do the...

    Nervous Need Reassurance

Setting myself up here .. but ... I think you really need to consider if you need to take this trip. Your fears as demonstrated by your knee jerk reaction to mass media reports and apparent lack of trust in operators leads me to think that flying may not be for you. I fully understand...

    Upcoming Qantas Frequent Flyer Changes

Hmm... busy day all :D Firstly, thanks to Red Roo for popping in and staying involved. All feedback from the board is meant to be constructive no doubt ;) Reading over all this and the Joyce quotes I am getting a bad feeling as a 4yr WP (and on target to hit it again). WP+ is way out of...

    Upcoming Qantas Frequent Flyer Changes

Not really that much to write home about for WP. Further enticement to cap earn at SG and direct earn / travel elsewhere. F lounge access benefit really needs to be assessed analytically now. Echo the comments re Optus, please not in the lounge.

    Jetstar to operate SYD-AKL-SFO?

Not something I would subject myself to. The other SFO option mentioned in the article would interest me, would seriously consider diverting my US spend to the competitor. LA is terrible, option of Dallas on 747 via who knows where is equally un-inspired. Hope AA and airport fees are making...

New QF 737-800 Trip Report - Excellent New Plane!

Under seat storage is no issue in row 4, in fact on several occasions i have asked if it is ok to use overhead storage in J for full flight (i tend to board late). Never been denied so I would say it is the best seating for storage options. Generally you get overflow papers from J and...

Upgrades for platinum on international flights

I got an at the gate upgrade to F once out of LA... flight was delayed by 14 hours so all the F's from the night before were switched to the SYD flight resulting in all of F being upgraded J. Don't really count that one although it was an intriguing experience watching how poorly QF ground staff...

[Cost of taxi from Dubai to Abu Dabi] Maureen louise

Not really helpful I know.... but .. I would consider either hiring a car as it is quite possibly cheaper than a taxi. I did it last November (long story but I had to store baggage somewher  ), was about $65AU all up for 1 day but that was return - no idea on one way drop off. It's an...

    Seating Availability/Allocation/Configuration Help Desk

Thanks for the reply - I am a bit a camel when travelling but note the comment regarding access. I'll try 38 this time and scope out 34 for the next trip.

    Seating Availability/Allocation/Configuration Help Desk

A380 - single traveller looking for quiet... 34K or 38K? Currently in 38K for space but concerned it may be a bit too open, 34K is still available and is assumed to be more private but all reports appear to favor 38. Never been in PE cabin on A380 so no idea. Input appreciated.
