A small price difference sways me on domestic flights. If QF matched my VA platinum I would consider using them more but I would then need to weigh up my retain strategy and it is easier for me to continue to retain with VA.

I just booked through the amex link as the rate with hotelclub was better than anyone else anyway. I will find out in the next few days if i get the bonus points. But I am not holding my breath.

I have done flown it forward a few times where I have had bags. They never seem to care.

I have always had sucess by emailing the hotel and asking what there policy is. The only occasion when that hasnt worked was at the Hilton Sydney where they were very apologetic.
