Where in the World should I propose?!

The terrace of Villa del Balbianello, lago di como. The later in April, the better. You only get married the first time once.

Jul, 2013. Best Card to Fly off?

Thanks Beta4Me. Sadly, Westpac can't do better than 0.625 pts per dollar of their Black mastercard. Their sister Amex card is 1.5pts/$ but it's significantly less than the Emirates MasterCard from Citi of 1.5/$.

Jul, 2013. Best Card to Fly off?

Amex have recently altered their earning ratios rendering their card, I would expect, no longer the best available. We are used to 1.5 pts per dollar earn rate, with a 1:1 transfer rate to most major airlines. Can anyone suggest another card which compares or betters this? TIA, The Fergus.

US Immigration delays due Budget cuts

JFK is a similar nightmare. 2.5hr queue last week and most of that, me thinks, because they haven't yet thought of a visual aid to non english speakers of how to place one's hands/fingers on the fingerprint machine - comedy to watch the Customs guy explain it ad-nauseum to almost every person...

9 hour transit in LHR - London visit?

Nick, We too have a long layover at Heathrow and so I wonder what you did in the end and what advice you would offer in hindsight? Cheers, S.

Planning a holiday on QFF points - Business or First?

I'd stick with the Qantas site and try and stick with just the Qantas flights rather than the code shares (except possibly Emirates) and A380 only. Then you'll have a bench mark for all future adventures. Have a blast.

Planning a holiday on QFF points - Business or First?

Go First. You won't regret it. Business is like economy but with better crockery. Travel is for experiences and memories. Create the best ones in First. Next year you will have more points. Try Business then.

whats the best qantas credit card for single self employed worker?

Spentan - do you mean they upped your future earn rate to 3.25pts/$ flat or did they bonused that month's spend at the higher rate? That's a mighty rate isn't it?

Centurion Card - Is it worth it?

Thanks. My own experience is opposite; I've recently had extensive discussion with my account manager about what is and is not covered and they exceeded my expectations. I've got nothing but praise for the service provided and in particular, the insurance cover. Assuming of course the glass is...

TIP: Redeeming Amex points for flights

Rapier, I think you missed the point of the posts; it wasn't to disagree with you, it was merely to say, enough, we geddit, we hear you (and hear you..). If you were as repetitive about Telstra or ANZ or Windows, I'm sure you'd get the same response. You'd certainly earn it at least. Cheers...

Centurion Card - Is it worth it?

IMHO if they were to comp it for first year, it would be pretty bloody difficult to give it back. What all the dollar rationalisation doesn't address is the lead swinging value of Centurian. Surely a valuable benefit. Ask Prince Frederik :)

Well, that's quite a benefit. I didn't know Westfield offered such a service! lol

TIP: Redeeming Amex points for flights

Nearly doubles it! Emirates will go close to that @ 4.9¢/pt. A spend of $180k on Emirates Mastercard @ 1.5pt/$. (Sadly, can no longer transfer Amex points to Emirates via Virgin) Still more than VA but bang for buck, I'd reckon the champagne might be bubblier on Emirates.

TIP: Redeeming Amex points for flights

Qantas First return to London is $13k or 384k QFF or Amex points I think. Value 3.4¢ per point or about 3.4% (or 5.1% @ 1.5pts/$) of every dollar I spend on my amex. Who can find better?
