I do that's what is meant to happen

Anything with a non stick surface or a blade is washed by hand in our household.

Everything goes in my dishwasher except the wooden chopping board

Sometimes no rinsing depending on the meal. But just rinsing out isn't the same in terms of keeping the sink clean as a full hand wash load with detergent.

Starting to look at appliances for a kitchen renovation - would be keen to get any opinions or anecdotal experiences on the below as there are a lot of options out there.

• Fridge: Leaning towards the Hisense 417L Bottom Mount as it has the best warranty on the compressor (11 years) and decent enough energy efficiency. Also like the design of it. Looked at a Westinghouse, LG and Haier as well, but didn't like the slightly curved door on the LG, or the freezer handle on the Haier.
• Dishwasher: Looking for a fully integrated machine, and the Bosch Series 6 seems like a no brainer. Series 6 is made in Germany instead of Turkey per the Series 4. Other fully integrated machines generally run $2k+.
• Cooktop: The 60cm 3 zone Westinghouse induction cooktop is the front-runner. Ideally would have liked something a little bigger, but probably won't have the space. There are other 4 zone versions in the 60cm, but can't ever see myself using 4 pots/pans at the same time, nor could I ever see 4 fitting on a 60cm surface.
• Oven: Keeping consistent with the cooktop, and looking at a 60cm Westinghouse. There are 2 higher end models, the first has airfryer functionality (costing $150 more) and the second has airfryer functionality as well as pyrolytic cleaning (costing $300 more). I have a standalone airfryer so that isn't particularly appealing, but the pyrolytic cleaning sounds interesting at least.

For context, 2-bedroom apartment, so sizing was a consideration for things like cooktops and oven.

Now to start looking at washer/dryer stacks.

Received some exceptional pricing from The Good Guys. $4,400 for the Westinghouse Fridge, inductjon cooktop, oven, rangehood and built-in microwave, and the Bosch fully integrated dishwasher, including delivery. Feels too cheap somehow, but the salesperson was happy to offer the generous discounts for the larger package.

Does anyone have experience with Beko washer/dryers? They seem to do the shallowest machines I can find, which is what I need for my space. The 5 year warranty and the low price point are appealing.

I won't shop there, had a shocking experience with a faulty printer a number of years ago and I've sworn never again.

Those people saying they rarely wash dishes by hand must not have children in the household. When the kids start to get antsy about doing chores, our dishwasher would "fault" and I would deem it broken and in need of service/repairs. "Oh well, we'll just have to wash by hand again until I can get it fixed."

About 3-6 months later, one of the kids always asked how long it will be until the dishwasher is fixed. "I'll try to look at it again on the weekend". Out come some tools, a little bit of grunting and banging. "Ok, lets give it a whirl". And then I claim the position of repair hero.

Then in a few months time, the cycle begins again with reluctance to do their chores ... oops, dishwasher is playing up again, I guess we will have to wash up by hand again".

When the last of the kids moved out, I felt it safe to buy a new dishwasher (and an ice cream machine and a few other pleasures).

Different businesses operating under one banner. For that reason I wouldn't judge based on one bad experience. YMMV

We didn't have a dishwasher in our family until the eldest was 15 and youngest 10.

The new Bosch dishwasher is marvellous, it's so quiet I can only tell it's running by the little red lights on the floor. Washes in under an hour. Perfect. Any everything goes in, even the Waterford crystal tho I did read it's best to run them in the machine without a tablet

Apparently the tablet contents can leach into quality items Like crystal.

The only constant complaint I got about our office Bosch dishwasher was it was too quite

My 3 phase power Miele dishwasher can do an intensive load in under 30min (to fully dry).

Yes. Should not use alkaline detergents on lead crystal (or aluminium actually). Hot water for glasses is sufficient on a seperate run. Although I put some of my older Reidel glasses in the Meile with general crockery and they do go cloudy over time (can be remedied afterwards to a slight degree) but I realised that I'd break more by handwashing than in the dishwasher. Newer glasses such as Zalto are fine in dishwaster.
