A summary of all Qantas Business Class seats

I'm on QF127 SYD to HKG but I've just noticed that the seat map is 1-2-1. Is it possible that they're using a mixture of refurbed and non-refurbed A380s on this route?

Yep. A friend had a refurbed 380 over to HK last week.

Yep I told my partner about what our inter-Europe narrowbody Business class seats on AY / AF / BA would be like - ie. Economy seats but with the middle seat blocked out - she was like "WTF are you serious?"

I think she was expecting at least QF 737 style seats (ie. wider, more legroom) - which I probably would have expected as well.

But oh well.. it is what it is.
Eurobusiness is indeed what it is but we need to remember that especially for BA one aircraft can do up to six sectors easily in a day and the curtain pretty much moves for every flight subject to demand. Flights can be of only 45 minutes duration for the 319s and 320/21s and business demands vary significantly. One aircraft can easily do LHR-LUX-LHR-CDG-LHR-GLA-LHR-EDI-LHR-AMS-LHR in one day. So it makes sense for them not to have a 2-2 biz asthey can easily fill the cabins as is. It's also not unusual for the biz cabin curtain to be away up at row 12 or so and emergency exits even on a 321.:🤪
 
The 737 business class is a pretty bad joke for us in Perth. It should be half the price of an A320 business class seat.
I would have to agree - surprised Qantas can call it business when at best it is a premium economy standard!
 
QF would be smarter to remove the 12 business class seats and replace them with economy seats with more legroom! Id rather pay for the legroom than those super expensive seats they pretend to be BC

I had this on a recent flight. Was actually quite shocked to look back and see how many rows were business. It impacts the service too as the trolley is pretty much in the aisle for the whole flight and FA's are busy just completing the single meal service. BA must make a killing on these.

It's seriously just a domestic / short haul business product. It's on par with most airline offerings for these kinds of flights throughout the world.
It could be worse (Euro J), or marketed as First Class (USA).

I think even worse is that as a pax you "buy" biz ticket expecting a 330 only to find a change to the 737 late in..(happened a lot if not quite so much now from PER to SYD and to MEL. Ironically though for me at least, I always think the 737 on board service is actually better than that provided on the 330. Always had decent service and even BA one world emerald recognition on the 737.

I am surprised you didn't comment on the single most important aspect of a good quality business class seat - the seat pitch. This determines how much space your seat has and how claustrophobic a seat can feel. With only 46" of seat pitch, I found the new dreamliner BC seats to be too cramped and not worth it. The old seats on the A380 had an 80" pitch which was fantastic. For me, and I'm 5'10" so not that tall either, 60" pitch is correct distance. 20" width is also the minimum for a good seat to be comfortable. Padding etc are all secondary to those two features - Pitch and Width.

Qatar upgraded BC suites are probably the best in market right now in my view.
 
Pitch is sorta meaningless on new generation business seats where your feet go under the console in front in terms of passenger comfort. Even worse when you use it to measure forward/back facing seats like QSuites.

For instance, the pitch of QSuites is nominally 103". Whilst they are large seats, that number is mostly meaningless.

I think the most important is width and bed length (which is not equal to pitch). In terms of general space when seated, there's no single number that can measure it well.

It can also determine how little privacy a seat has. The old SkyBed Mk II seats were atrocious for privacy and aisle access from window seats.

I think very, very few people would consider them better than the current Qantas Thompson Aero seats.

No sane person would rate them. I was reminded of how horrible they were on QF11 on 2/3 - I actually felt sorry for the pax who had booked J and not secured a UG to F - which only receives more of a cosmetic UG.

The old Dreamtime seats on the 763 are more comfortable.
