First Qantas A220 revealed

Yep X4B was the first, got some good shots of X4A. Minor fanfare at the gate, seemed a fair few travel bloggers etc. around, notice up about it being the inaugural and all pax were given a bag with a small certificate, lanyard, cookie and model A220, which was pretty cool.
Nice - although wouldn't work for me as I block all cookies from Qantas :p

Does anyone know if the goodies will be handed out on every 220 flight today? Got a mate who is flying CBR-MEL on the 1835 (QF1279)

I stumbled onto the flight not knowing what was going on was into my 36th hour of travel from Europe, and only really noticed when they handed me the bag as I boarded.

I have a strange suspicion immediately and the guy seated next to me were the only non Qantas/media/blogger on the flight

Haha I did overhear a few had come in from Europe and were on the final leg. I was in row 2 and second or third on after the assistance pax, so heard a lot of the chatter and saw a lot of cameras 🤣.

Good question, especially with the next one from MEL being on the proper (Green) A220!

I think I may have been sitting behind you.

Oh, and it seems they had a celebration with the luggage, my suitcase arrived on the belt busted open and in a plastic bag…

First of I assume many videos on the A220. from Luke (Young Aussie Flyer).
Row 18 so a beautiful wing takeoff roll.

Nice to see the inside of the aircraft, but I’m afraid from the bits I fast forwarded through, I found that totally cringeworthy.

I’m probably over analysing, but what’s with the over use of this Australia map outline on the QF A220 inaugural signage, coasters, cards, food etc? Does it suggest that QF will only fly the A220 within Australia (going against expectations of the majority) or does it suggest that there will indeed be another version of the A220 flying for mainline and fitted with international-grade interiors, noting that QF still haven’t provided details about the interior of VH-X4F onwards….IMG_6756.jpeg

Paul Stewart's video for those that want a more experience YTrs take.

Don't think I'd read much into that map of Australia. But I wouldn't expect any international routes for the A220 for a while - it's after all primarily a 717 replacement.

Quite possibly then! Sorry to hear about your baggage, I haven’t checked in years, but understand that’s not always an option sadly.

Yes I saw Paul boarding, as well as Rory Ding (who was on 7news later, he was in front of me I thought, then his video confirmed it), don’t know the other guy. I like Paul’s videos though. He was on the domestic B747 flight early 2020 SYD-MEL (positioning for Antarctica), I couldn’t see myself in that one but found myself in his today. His videos are pretty good.

As for further afield, I said to the guy next to me these could be quite comfortable for mid-haul, maybe DPS, NZ, Pacific Islands. Maybe even further afield. But they’ll need more of them first!

Also the longer domestics that don’t require the capacity, I get it was for cargo and covid was weird, but MEL-DRW/CNS never needed an A330 pax wise 🤣 surreal times though.

Not overanalysing, just misunderstanding the signage. Signage is for QantasLink A220 not Qantas (mainline).
And is a single map of Australia "over use"?

Single? If you’d watched the various YT reviews uploaded today you’d find that Australia map on almost everything from signage to coasters to food to thank you cards and so on…IMG_6758.jpegIMG_6759.jpegIMG_6760.jpeg

Yes, that’s quite an informative video, thanks for that. Its an informative coverage of the aircraft & features rather than a bloggers "oh what a great experience I’m having".

Also, QantasLink is an international airline these days. It surprises me how many people are unaware that they now fly frequently to NZ, East Timor, Solomon Islands and are starting flights to SIN soon and DPS also rumoured to get QantasLink flights in the future.
