I hear what you are saying and indeed the Red e-deal is almost the same ($443 / $459.83) but huge difference in Business (Qantas $898 / Amex $1,551.74). No idea why

Was looking get best bang for buck using the flight credit + DSC offer to get over the line for LTG + WP requal.

In this instance, Qantas got my money.

Qantas return discount Y = $443 / Amex = $459.83




Business return Qantas price $898 / Amex roundtrip $1,551.74

I booked more complicated routes with QF direct and decided to use Amex for a simple point to point return this year. Last 2 years the schedules for flight I had booked for Dec & Jan changed a lot and was a hassle getting alternatives I wanted via Amex.

Agree 100% that Amex flight credits are best used for simple return or one-way flights... that dont happen over the weekend or out of hours!!!

Using flight credit is the only time I even bother looking at Amex Travel.

Appears Amex doesn't see the availability in I class, so it's moving up to the D fares.

I am yet to see evidence of any amount of investment or competence in AMEX's travel division.

It is long overdue for a cull imho

Can't see any valid I class fares on EF for SYD-OOL-SYD on those dates. The issue isn't specific to Amex

Amex MEL-BNE-CNS in Y are fairly comparable. MEL-BNE-MEL in J are not according to Lat34.
The latter is a good DSC earn on the new A220 if it's in need or interest or suits travel timing.

Good call team - quick search on Google Flights just now shows only Trip,Com offers a comparable business fare (IF it's really available) with the rest on par with Amex.

Hi - hopefully this isn't crazy/stupid question, but are QantasLink flights (i.e. QF1263 Bris-Melb) included in the DSC?
It appears that they are a Qantas owned and operated flight, but they weren't specially called out in the T&Cs; hence my slight confusion.

If you have access to IAP, you might be doing yourself a disservice. I shaved $400pp off a J itinerary into SE Asia last year, worth the coughpy systems & itinerary formatting.

Just finished my bookings for this DSC event. Only reward bookings (no revenue), for 714 SC's. Just places I needed to go and a few extras.

CBR-NTL x 2, CBR-LST (with a bonus sector thrown in by QF for a schedule change) and CGK-CBR.

Not the most direct routings, obviously, and all for approx 200,000 points.

Exactly - that is what this forum is for - many on here are frequent flyers - but many aren't frequent flyer experts - if we were then this forum would be redundant!

Just had my annual fling with Amex travel for exactly this - looking forward to first time on QF2 at the end of June, and flex economy prices were the same on both sites.

Same here - after all my years of travel this DSC trip will be my first time on QF1 & 2 - just the SYD-SIN leg and return though then it is EK on through DXB to CAI.

Have you received e-tickets? I'm not sure if it's still a thing, but a few years back, applying for a classic upgrade too quickly after making a booking would cause problems with the ticketing process.

About to purchase a GV during this DSC promotion and I just want to clarify and correct me if I’m wrong please.
I can use the GV to purchase and redeem flights before February 2025 for DSC.
This is my first time getting one.
