Not sure how long Virgin took with its 737-8.

Remember QF had originally planned first pax flights late last year. This certification issue is what is holding it up.

Anyone know the date of the official Qantas A220 launch event where the media are invited to finally reveal the interiors to the Australian public?

I'm hearing that VH-X4A will be flying into AYQ on the 24th .. possibly some sort of launch event? Or just a press op.

Why you need a media event, see interiors?
It's just another small plane that's been flying the globe for years, hardly anything to note. This one just has a red roo tail, or green tail or whatever next.

A write up article with some pics should suffice.

you could say the same about the events for the QF 787 or A380.

The first time QF operates a new type in normal service, regardless of how long the type has been in service or how many other airlines already have it, they are going to have some sort of media event for it.

It's quite simples - It's new (to QF) and shiny. QF have been advertising endlessly new aircraft arrival and for Marketing this is a good news storybthey want to push.

Plus, bar folks like is, the general public haven't seen the green tail livery, so that's another thing to push.

May be ho hum for seasined flyers but definitely something QF want on the nightly news.

Of course Qantas yes, let's have another project sunrise media announcement.

Fair call @RichardMEL

A real plane is far more concrete than project sunrise thing imo. This would be when they show it iff, tell everyone how more reliable and fuel efficient it is, yadda yadda and get 30sec on the nightly news.

I wonder when they'll update the schedules to reflect this
Probably as soon as the certification thing is resolved.

Still I am doing MEL-CBR early March so may get lucky - or say farewell to a 717. Either is good.

Given we are all waiting with baited breath (well, some of us :) ) as to what QF's A220s will be like inside, I though the article from OMaaT on legacy-carrier Air Canada's A220 business class might whet the appetite. Review: Air Canada Business Class Airbus A220

* 3 rows of 2-2
* narrower seats than other J cabins in AC, due to fuselage width
* 37" seat pitch
* USB-A and AC power outlets
* leg rests and foot rest
* individual air nozzles (and reading light)
* 'proper' bulkhead between J and Y

* printed menu and drink list
* 13" high def seat back monitor
* >2,500 hours of programming
* pay-for wi-fi

* warm hand towel
*'decent size' toilet at the front
* inconsistent in-flight service

Possibly close to what QF may provide.

Carrier dependent of course. Won'tget on QF.
*'decent size' toilet at the front

Hopefully.

* inconsistent in-flight service

For sure with QF :D
