Flighty app

I have been using it for a few months, I generally like it.

My biggest gripe is inability to add obscure or retrospective airlines. Sure I get you can't track live flight times, but you can at least plot it on the map. Tripit allows free text but then it just doesn't import. I'm flying between APW & PPG in a few weeks on Talofa Airways who use the TA airline code, but that's the code for TACA El Salvador so it's just ignoring the flights completely. Same goes for my historic trips on airlines that no longer operate.

Other minor gripe is if you get a flight change that results in a different flight number (super common in the US) it doesn't tell you. Old flight is just stuck at "Confirming flight record" but never resolves. Sure once I action in TripIt it will fix it self, but TripIt isn't any better for this either.

I have a similar issue. I've been adding my old flight data in Flighty, and have found that I can't add Virgin Blue (DJ) flights in the system.

The DJ code has been taken over by AirAsia Japan and I also couldn't find the actual flights by typin in the departure/destination airports and dates.

In general I'm not that concerned about historical data. For me there are enough good features for current and future flights to outweigh the negatives. As you say, it's not perfect and I do wish they had a persistent list of notifications - sometimes I'm busy and dismiss alerts then have no idea what they were about!

Me too! A notification comes, goes, but doesn’t persist anywhere.

It is also really dodgy on capturing arrival data. Don’t know why but often the Taxi tracking and timing keeps on going well beyond gate arrival disembarking etc.

But I love how it can use in-flight Wi-Fi , which is only there for entertainment and not general use, to keep updating itself.

As a recent buyer, I'd say it is very dependent on the individual and can't be a blanket yes/no. I'd recommend buying it for a month to see how it works for you and decide from there.

I purchased lifetime, but only because I could see myself leveraging it time and again and eventually the month-to-month costs would surpass the lifetime price. YMMV.

Yes. It’s notifications of delays and gate changes is almost always superior to the screens and even the airlines... almost .... and it gives you so much more additional information - its sort of a combination of TripIt and Flight radar 24. and as a record of your past and future flights it’s probably unequalled.

Great App but a few aggravations such as coding of the A380 (thinks A380 is not the same as A380-800 and sends out an alert that there has been an aircraft change)

Had a few alerts recently which have caused more concern that was necessary. On a RTW itinerary this December, first a "This (AA) flight has been cancelled" alert, with the details having lines put though them. Called the TA to find that it was just a flight number change.

Last night, change in AY flight time alert - flight has been brought forward by about 8 hours, conflicting with the earlier connection. Called TA this morning, no, they have nothing about that & I looked up AY web site and no change in details for that flight if I go in and book.

So either Flighty knows something that the airline isn't telling anyone else about, or its a bug of some sort. If I wasn't using a TA, it would take some calls to sort out every time.

Anyone else seen this sort of issue?

I don't have a personal experience, but people on Flyertalk have some comments that might be relevant to your experience. In short, Flyertalk sometimes, correctly, reports that a particular flight is cancelled before even the airline. Sometimes even 1 to 3 days prior.

Of course it might be a glitch but perhaps keep an eye on it for the next couple of days to see whether that is indeed the case or not?

I can’t say I have noticed anything like that on my App.

I have however learned to ignore the constant push back/ pull-in of flights on the day.
Similar to how I ignore the air tags on Find My when it tells me that my Premium hand luggage on QFLink has been left at the airport somewhere 😂

Thanks. Yes, the TA said they will monitor.

Same! Seems to be an issue with them tracking taxiing info - but I guess they are just deriving from some airport database ...
