Qantas Points Club Discussion

Hmm. Both my wife and I re-reached Points Club ages ago (me about 2 months ago, her about 6 months ago), and nothing. Used the old vouchers we got, but nothing since.
If you’ve requalified PC, your next bunch of benefits post at the start of the new QFF year.

I can’t use my new unused $50 qantas wine voucher . I get the message that it’s invalid . I notice there is now a requirement to spend a minimum of $149 to use it . Does that mean I can only use it for purchases where I pay actual cash instead of redeeming points ?

You can test it buy applying to an order over $149 and see if it applies the discount. You can then remove the voucher and it should still work later if it’s valid.

I didn’t know you could use a $$$ voucher on a points purchase? I’ve never tried as using points is usually pretty poor value.

Thanks . Tried with a cash purchase above $149 . Still says invalid .

I just used mine from points club, on the $59 bottle, no problems.
If you are copying and pasting the code, make sure there isn't a space after it.
If it still doesn't work, I'd give them a call to see if they can apply it for you.

There’s actually a “Copy” button on the dashboard next to the voucher that usually works ok.

Could yours be an old voucher subject to only terms & c ‘s ?

I have one existing voucher, issued Oct last year (possibly coinciding with Points Club retain - but nowhere near the member's birthday) which doesn't have a minimum spend. I've just tried using it on a sub $149 cart and had no issues moving through the checkout process.

The Points Club benefit page also does not mention a minimum spend:

<< Points Club members will receive a $50 Qantas Wine voucher, and Points Club Plus members will receive two $50 Qantas Wine vouchers within 21 days of attaining Points Club or Points Club Plus. To view the voucher please log in to My account. Vouchers are valid for 12 months. Only one unique voucher code can be used per transaction, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion. Each voucher can only be used once. Vouchers will be in My account when you attain or retain Points Club or Points Club Plus. Attainment vouchers commence from September 2022. Liquor Act 2007 (NSW): No alcohol can be sold or supplied to anyone under 18. It’s against the law. Licence Number: NSW LIQP770016736, SA 57900154, NT IRL0201. Qantas Wine is operated by Qantas Frequent Flyer Operations Pty Limited ABN 22 132 484 210.

On the contrary, this FAQ page and this media release from 2021 (when the vouchers were introduced) do mention a $149 minimum spend. However they also mention these vouchers are issued during your birthday month - which doesn't seem to match the T&C above. @blacksultan is your expiry date within your birthday month?

There’s discussion up thread about B’day vouchers being replaced by the new member year vouchers. Not withstanding any anomalies with the Ts&Cs.

The exception of course when peeps “attain” PC v “retain” and the benefits are supposed to arrive X days later.

It was new, I only received it a couple of weeks ago and used it straight away
As @sudoer mentioned, I thought the min purchase on PC vouchers wasn’t a thing anymore? But it is possible for Wine and Vouchers to have min spends - can be a function of who issued it (eg the Woolies Hotel vouchers have a min spend from memory but the PC one don’t?).

It wasn't me who had the issue, I used mine on the $59 bottle so only had to spend $9 and also received some bonus points. So good!

Yes, I know. It was a general comment and I was pondering how @blacksultan ended up with one with a min spend.

I've written this article which offers a simple fix for the current problem of the Qantas Club benefit being more useful for Qantas Gold/Platinum/Platinum One members who have Points Club than Points Club Plus:

What do you think of the idea?
Agree, with the four lounge vouchers, choice. As a QF Platinum it would be of better use to me to be able to transfer to family or friends, similar to what points club gets to do.

So what happens if you make Points Club and Points Club Plus in the same year? Do you get 6 lounge passes?

Makes commercial sense I guess. Just to be able to use those lounge passes Golds and above would encourage their family and friends to fly Qantas who may not otherwise have done so.

Potentially in the first year. 2nd year onwards, you normally only get the benefits at the start of your QFF member year and only for the level you achieved in the previous year.

Excellent idea but I don't expect Qantas to implement a suggestion from a website that Qantas management probably views as unfairly critical of Qantas. With the appointment of Andrew Glance as the new loyalty CEO he will almost certainly want to implement his own ideas rather than anyone else's.
