1 year limit on booked tickets

Hello all,

I had 130k points expiring last October so I decided to book 3 business class flights for October 2024 with a view to change the route or dates to December 2024 as that is when we need to fly.

I rang to check today but was told that the tickets have a '1 year validity' so I can only change the date or routes as long as I fly by Oct 2024.

I can't just cancel the flights because the points will all be forfeited.

I feel like I should've just transferred them on to Velocity till I was ready

Anyone see any way around this?

Only way I can think of is to pay the fee to extend miles validity; it might be possible to call them and ask whether you can extend the miles if you cancel the ticket by paying the extend validity fee.

It won't be cheap and I am not 100% sure they will allow it, but that's the best shot you have if you must use it for Christmas 2024.

Just a heads up that it's going to be hard to find business saver space for 3 person around December, so it's not a guarantee that you would be able to reserve the seats you want even if you go down this route.

I was in a similar situation. I ended up just forfeiting the ticket as I couldn't figure out a way to salvage any of it. I don't intend to use Krisflyer ever again.

No way. Only can change date. No route/class change as that requires re-ticketing. I have a flight also in Feb 2024, ticketed last year March 2023. Also in a dilemma for this.

There is allowed route and class change for USD25
The problem was the 1 year validity from purchase date
