Air Canada to Qantas connection in LAX

Hi all,

Quick question - I'm travelling from YYC - MEL via LAX. The YYC - LAX leg is with Air Canada and the LAX - MEL leg is with QF. Both flights are on one ticket and I'm just wondering if our bags will be checked all the way through to Melbourne or do we have to pick them up at LAX and re-check in at TBIT?

I have had bags checked through a number of times doing just that combo, but the last time was about 2 years ago. If the ticket is on Qantas stock, I think you will be ok. At worst, as you pre clear at YYC, having to re-check at LAX won't be a total nightmare!

Just to close this off - Bags were checked all the way through to Melbourne.

Only issue was that Air Canada wouldn't tag the bags as priority for QF gold :/ Essentially claimed that it would be removed anyway at LAX. Seems a little funny but bags came out in the first third of luggage so wasn't too bad.
