sorry but by 5 Sept. when I saw this these flights almost seemed imaginary. Yes I could get J reward SYD_MEL or via CBR to SCL on LATAM c.10Oct but coming back 2 wks later or so absol NADA in rewards. And as for QF, forget it totally (which is usual)
and yes they did not advise me directly about this "deal"', you have to find it thru Google or this site etc. All part of the new opaqueness that is Qantas, trying to hide your money so that you forget about it and pump up their balance sheet thru dodgy accounting
The website FAQ suggests that rego is not strictly required - but believe nothing from QF so registered to get a formal email confirmation as proof. It seems openended as to flights but bit opaque whether it has to be QF metal, so caution there. Also note that FAQ (examine in full detail!) says...
After a lot of research I finally booked my best bang for bucks trip this afternoon to Bali / DPS. If anyone wants to emulate it, buying Sydney to DPS via Melbourne on 29/8 in J is still going for $1, 000 I think. That means 320 SC under the deal for that sector alone. Coming back to Sydney the...
The one annoying feature of the 28 Degrees card I recently found out about (thx to new operators of the card, not GE Money as before?) was hitting me with a 95cent charge for each out of sync topup (one of $200, other of only $30) to cover an unwitting credit withdrawal by my partner o'seas...
would agree with MEL that a two or three pronged strategy needed. I am with the 28 Degrees for credit purchases +Citi debit Visa for o'seas cash plan myself. Some premium cards offer points and also claim no forex charges o'seas, but frankly can't be bothered switching cards just for that...
Oatek, I got the same offer (domestic only too) with same expiry on 15 Dec. Qantas must have worked out (not hard) that almost the only domestic flying I do is to ADL in March for the Adelaide Fest and Womad, with a very occasional BNE jaunt. Otherwise it is to NZ 4-5 times a year and maybe...
Someone did mention algorithm as to the logic of this offer. I will only see logic if all people declare their anniversary FF date, as my theory (with very limited personal experience) is that you may tend to get it 1-2 months after anniversary. I got mine last year in early Aug (year begins...
Don't know about the Flounge in AKL - but know the wine selection in EK J lounge in AKL makes the QF lounge look boring and predictable. Some top Kiwi wines in good varietals (as well as the inevitable French bubbles). Have not even bothered with inspecting the QF lounge of late with both...
Pathetic attempt to "spice up" cross-Tasman J in QF. Myself I never fly to AKL (3-4 times a year) anything other than an EK A-380(on QF ticket) or even the good value LA J class. I am over "baby plane" 737s when the A380 is so much more comfortable.
Re: Upgrades with Emirates! (it can happen)
I meant to post my recent experience to that earlier item. Anyway considered it a record to do a return to AKL over Xmas (QF ticket but EK A380 of course) and got J upgrade BOTH ways, even though on the cheapest possible ticket (about $640 at that...
sorry chaps and chapettes and other hopefuls - the Qantas Club freeby has now been delivered to Victor, the "winner" - an about to be Uni of Sydney graduate who is soon to head off to Hong Kong. Enjoy Victor!
Having just squeaked into QF Gold with 720SC mostly by overspending on trans-Tasman J class, I have the Gold stamp to prove it already so can now access the lounge etc without a free pass. However I have a remaining free Qantas Club invitation exp. 7/14, after 2 given to me after an honest...
the "light lunch" inclusion on ADL-SYD on Sat. 15th at 1.30pm was a rather greasy in a hot plastic bag "sweet potato and sausage pie" - the greasiness possibly from the cheese content, rather than the 19% claimed beef sausage content. There was also a strange listed ingredient whose name I...
