Ethiopian 737 Max 8 crash and Fallout

From the FAA's Airworthiness Directive: "The new flight control laws now permit only one activation of MCAS per sensed high-AOA event, and limit the magnitude of any MCAS command to move the horizontal stabilizer such that the resulting position of the stabilizer will preserve the flightcrew’s...

    Openflights vs MyFlightRadar24

I found it useful to load a few records/data points at a time to work out what is right and wrong. Then after the majority is correct, delete what you loaded, fix up the csv and bulk load it correctly leaving just a few tweaks at the end.

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

You don't have to fly back to your starting point but the distance to that point will still be counted. Just don't book it.

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

I had a few memorable 747 experiences. My first Business class flight was on a QF747 (-400 I think) SYD-LAX for work in about 1999. Sat down, put on the seat belt then wanted to check what movies were available. Couldn't reach the seat pocket of the dream-time recliner seat in front and got the...

How many countries have you visited?

70 countries for me over 7 continental areas.

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates.

The SYD-LAX A380 service was one of the last services to end pre-COVID, if memory serves, so there may be an option to utilise the 380s again but it will depend on schedules and what other north american services are running (as well as demand!) I guess running a couple of 380s means there is...

I suspect all they did was cancel the relevant flights in your OWA award and reprice it based on the flights still remaining. I don't think you got a refund, as such, just some points back for a repriced ticket. If anyone has flown more than two or three flights (depending on distance, airlines...

    Ask The Pilot

Hi Pilots When you're in the air and following a flight plan do you ever find yourself flying over multiple ATC borders (where the control passes from one controller to another) to then find yourself talking to the original controller again as you return to their air space?

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

My TA is waiting for Qantas to release me from the now non-existent F bookings on QF1 and QF2 in mid-May so she can reassign me to EK F. As it stands now, I still have confirmed F seats on QF1 and QF2 to/from LHR and via SIN...

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

I'd say timing would remain as slots at LHR would be unlikely to shift.

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

I'm affected. Am booked to fly SYD<->LHR in F in May. A tad devastated I'll miss out on F on board and I'll also miss trying out the new F lounge in SIN. Be interesting to see what is offered to me instead: J on the rerouted QF1 and QF2 or F on EK or another partner airline (not BA please!)

    Ask The Pilot

Thanks. A couple more questions... Why would pilots need notification of helicopters? An airport is where things that fly stop or start flying so... Also, at SYD helicopters are not a one-off or ad hoc occurrence. Secondly, regarding the comment about the non-performance impact of a crane, does...

Thanks. How is it delivered? Electronically onto something or as a piece of paper in your pre-flight pack? or...?
