I managed to get my Restricted PPL as I turned 17 - became unrestricted and then endorsed on quite a few aircraft from C152 Aerobat to C421 as well as few Pipers. Flew as a private pilot (with a night rating) until I had children. I now enjoy sitting back and being flown around.
It does seem strange - I recently flew on Virgin where i had seats 3A on both legs. I applied for an upgrade through Upgrade Me and wasn't successful but I retained my original seats.

We are going to Sydney on the weekend (from Queensland) to be with family for Christmas. We have decided to drive down as I don't trust the Qld Premier not to close the border. We have a tray back ute with a camping pod so we will at least have a bed if we have to fluff around NSW waiting for...
Those of us who have lifetime silver or gold don’t benefit from extensions - maybe Qantas should explore other options rather than a blunt extensions (not really sure what these could be though).
I am thinking of Canada in August of next year - hopefully I will be able to redeem some Kris Flyer points to set up a Star Alliance rtw J trip (if Star Alliance carriers are still in existence).
I would like to give Virgin some well deserved praise.
I had a flight booked to Tasmania on April 18 and I rang the call centre to get a refund.
I had absolutely no trouble - call centre person was extremely pleasant and helpful.
I was told that I would get a refund (less the $80) - refund was...
We have travelled to Europe and the US separately (J & Y) when our children were 11 and 15 and 12 and 16 with the eldest a reasonably sized male who could help his sister more adequately then I in an emergency. They didn’t mind the separation as they were very pleased just to be going on...
Reports of constant lost luggage episodes, change of flight times (we have already has a change from a late afternoon flight departure to a mid morning departure so we now need to be at the airport at 7am) and flight delays.
Off to Morocco via Barcelona and Paris (SQ J reward) in April - a bit concerned with the Air Maroc flights to and from Morocco though. The rest of the year is still to be decided but probably we will stay in Australia.
All the zip ties I have used are able to be ripped open by hand - I am a reasonably small person and I can manage them - I have never had to go and get scissors
I have never used a lock but use travel cable/zip ties instead. I have only had my bag opened once (by TSA) and was easily noticed due to lack of the tie. Never need to worry about keys or remembering a combination.
I wore boots as tracks were rough and didn’t want to damage ankles- already had a couple of breaks. Quite a few others wore runners. Guide refused to take a person who only had sandles on.
