Sigh,.... I really wanted to support VA getting back on its feet, this now makes it impossible. If they're planning something with Alliance they need to let their frequents know asap, otherwise it's time to let the VA Platinum lapse and go exclusively QF... The irony is 90% of my flying was...
Yep, had some scheduled PQQ-SYD flights for 14/8 and 21/8 cancelled last night, interestingly rerouted via PQQ-BNE-SYD with PQQ-BNE on Alliance.
I suspected that they may be doing something with the ATRs however I checked CFS-SYD which uses a 737 and they are all cancelled too....
If it was business as usual across the industry I'd agree with you, the market forces would collapse them. These aren't ordinary times, every single company in the country is currently or will be hurting for the short term which changes the game for all players. Time will tell...
Exactly my situation, currently holding 600k with VA and see no sense in running... yet! VA has the cash to ride this out for a while, and no covenants on their bonds, the key will be how quickly they and the industry recover.
No need for concern, it's merely the new accounting standard that requires a lease's balance to appear as a liability on the balance sheet. Previously, only the lease expense appeared on the P&L with no reflection in liabilities.
About time, Having the aircraft parked overnight should improve ontime performance and most importantly, means I won't have to use QF when I need a same day trip!
Booked a run from PQQ-SYD-BNE-DUD return for $1457 w/720SC on 2/6 returning the Wednesday, considering a quick drive to Queenstown if the snow's good otherwise I'll find something comfy to shack up in for a couple of days to get some work done.
Received a letter from Amex yesterday with the great news that the Velocity Gold card is being enhanced to 1.5 pts/$ however the 2pts/$ on fuel and supermarkets is disappearing after October 3rd... :(
Given that we only use this card for fuel and groceries, it looks like this card is going to...
It would be well worth it at the moment with the bonus 50%, Velocity to Kris is 1.35:1 normally and not worth it, but with the bonus you're looking at an extra 11% Kris miles.
6000 ANZ = 4500 Velocity with bonus = 3333 Krisflyer miles (ANZ to Kris directly = 3000 KF miles)
