I was fortunate to first travel there in 1980 working as an Assistant Surveyor at a mine up in the north-west, in Luina and spent time exploring the wilderness around the mine, as well as the heady heights of Hobart. Q:
Where did you go on your last trip?
|
A:
I was supposed to go to Port Douglas for Xmas but the border was closed 2 days before I travelled. I was quite fortunate to find a spot at Arrawarra instead due to a last-minute cancellation. I used to holiday there when I was young and even though it was not the place I would choose these days (moved a little further to Corindi), I had a great time there.

Where will you go when the current travel restrictions are lifted?

A:
It has to be the Maldives. I was supposed to be there early last year and had to cancel the trip twice already!

Favourite airline?

A:
Singapore
Airlines. In my opinion, they offered the best first class product out of 8 or 9 airlines with whom I have flown first class. I like how I could choose either Dom Perignon or Krug - or both! The wine selection was also great. The food selection departing Singapore was extensive; 70+ dishes to choose from with a broad variety of cuisine.

What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member? |
A: There is nothing to lose and everything to gain from being nice to the people you encounter when you travel, e.g. check-in staff, flight attendants, drivers, hotel staff, local residents.

Strategy
to obtain US Amex. I have been obsessed with US credit cards since around 2013 as I thought the offers in Australia were not interesting. I had to try and do everything by myself and successfully obtained one in 2016. It kinda felt lonely until ithongy started this thread. It's great to have other people with whom I can share and learn from similar experiences.
