Qantas, Don't Blame Customers for Your Woeful Service

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce last week apologised to customers for the long call centre wait times. Chief Customer Officer Stephanie Tully also emailed customers with "an update on contact centre wait times", where she admitted the current situation has "not been acceptable".

It's good to see Qantas at least acknowledging there's a problem, but the apologies from Qantas' senior management are full of qualifications. For many Australian frequent flyers, both apologies came across as tone-deaf and insulting as they appeared to blame customers for the airline's customer service problems!

SAS Age-Based Price Discrimination

A Scandinavian Airlines plane at Copenhagen Airport

AFF Member Profile

This week we interviewed AFF member Actos from Sydney, who joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2020 and has so far made 37 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: Melbourne - the Moomba festival was on. Croatia was my last international trip and I absolutely loved the Adriatic Coast.

Q: Where are you planning to go on your next trip?
A: I'm heading to Thailand in three days' time. I've had to rebook my appointment three times with an Ajarn for a Sak Yant Tattoo... third time's the charm hopefully!

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Like many others, I have a soft spot for Singapore Airlines. A few years ago, my father and I were travelling home from the funeral of his brother. Cabin Crew immediately noticed something was wrong and went above and beyond to ensure Dad was well taken care of. One of them even sat by Dad and offered his kind listening ear for most of the flight. This was definitely a memorable flight for both Dad and myself.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Don't be scared to ask questions. Many of the members here are a wealth of knowledge and more than happy to assist.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: Definitely the New Amex statement credits thread. I'm terrible with keeping up and love how this is the one stop shop!
