Trip
report by RooFlyer | Yes,
tempting fate to show this intended
itinerary... and what happened to 'why fly
direct when you connect'? If all this
comes off, I'll buy a lottery ticket. On a
small bird today to Adelaide to catch up
with friends and a lunch. Given snow is
forecast on Mt Wellington over the
weekend, it seems a good choice! read more...

Q:
Where did you go on your last trip?
|
A:
I had to look up "trip" in the dictionary,
and then I remembered that I used to go to
these things called "foreign countries" on
some sort of contraption called a "plane".
My last such trip to a foreign country on
a plane (woah, my head is spinning using
these fancy unfamiliar terms) was to
Vietnam in 2019.
|
Q:
Where are you planning to go on your next
trip?
|
A:
To
paraphrase the old joke, how do you make
McGowan laugh? Make a plan. But I enjoy
giving anyone a laugh so, planning on
Vietnam again. What? I like it. A man can
dream.
|
Q:
Favourite airline?
|
A:
Do
I pick Aeroflot in the early 2000s, where
there was still a smoking section and
breakfast was a choice of "beef or fish"?
Close (even as a vehement non-smoker), but
I guess I will say Cathay Pacific, mainly
for the Hong Kong lounges. Sadly, I'm not
confident Cathay, their lounges, or Hong
Kong itself will regain (what I saw as)
their heights in the world that's coming.

Q:
What's one piece of advice
you would give to a new AFF member? |
A: [I'm
not really a frequent flyer, so this is
general life advice.] Never proceed as if
you're the smartest guy in the room, even
when you're sure you are. This works if
you take it as an appeal to be humble and
open-minded, or as a Machiavellian tactic.
|
Q:
Favourite thread on AFF?
|
I'm
gonna cheat and not choose a specific
thread but say my favourite type of thread
is the Trip
Reports. People put in a lot of
effort, which I appreciate. The reports
can be informative, fabulous, inspiring,
entertaining and sometimes up to two of
those at the same time.
