Renew Qantas Status with Points
Qantas now offers its frequent flyers the option to renew their Gold or Platinum status using frequent flyer points. Normally, Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum members need to earn 1,200 status credits within a 12-month period to renew their status. But if you don't quite earn enough status credits during your membership year, you can renew for 120,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points instead.

A similar deal is available to Qantas flyers with Gold status. Instead of earning the usual 600 status credits to re-qualify for Gold membership, it's possible to renew by spending 80,000 Qantas points.
