I have also seen bonus points appear as "Mobile Wallet" and corresponding only to the in-person Google Wallet transactions on the card and no others. It may be that they accidentally wired it like a past offer specifically for spend from mobile wallets. That clearly is not consistent with the terms.
I have stuff held against it for upcoming trips, which I will need to pay with a different card because they're after June, but I probably won't have much room to cancel before the next annual fee in October.
I don't think the equipment they're flying to SYD and MEL right now (mix of 77W and 789), has an F cabin. If your onward European port does (LHR and GVA I think?) you might be able to upgrade but I don't have any experience with an auction system on EY.
After seeing this I called up (3x pax travelling in Sep, I have Star Gold through AC) and the agent was agreeable and did it for me.
For the transTasman MEL-AKL we're on the exCX 77W with the F cabin (my wife is booked separately in J and I may take the upsell to get her in an F seat), so he...
At least as far as I can tell so far:
1. There's no progressive earn tracker on points. You only see what is transferred to Star at the end of the month.
2. Even then it's a single total and not itemised.
Yes, Amex disallow it. Visa and MasterCard permit it, although as per the article Visa did once try to disable it. I think ACCC treats Visa/MasterCard differently than Amex because Amex is more of a closed loop.
If this is the one I'm thinking of (and that people complain about downthread as being oversubscribed by the time they got the email) then it's on all spend, whereas @sudoer has I think the Amex Travel one.
I have both, and managed to activate the 5x one before it filled up.
QR has a "business lite" fare bucket (P, I think) which doesn't include lounge access. But I think it's pretty well established that all J awards, either through QRPC or partners like AA (or VA), include lounge access generally, and specifically Al-Mourjan at DOH.
So I think the OSL denial was...
Sorry, I just reread and realised @RooFlyer covered the paid membership thing before me. I did not intend to step on your toes, RooFlyer, and I apologise.
This is for people who pay for Qantas Club or Admiral's Club memberships. It doesn't apply to status members of the FFPs.
In terms of earning, did you want to earn with QFF? In my experience earning to AAdvantage for QF-coded flights has earned pretty well.
Yes, but the more reasonable comparison for QR/EY through VA, is EK through QF, and they cost more again.
With VA points, SQ has more reasonable copays, but the J seats just aren't as good, at least not for a taller person.
Just to check, @Alex Bear: Did you nominate Aeroplan as your status airline? Because that was a necessary condition. (I think it's actually being run from Aeroplan's end and you won't get any joy from Star Alliance even if you reach them.)
Barring a significant quantity of unplanned travel in the next six weeks, I will fail to requalify for Velocity Platinum. I understand I will soft-land to Gold, but my question is: Would I then start with the requalification target of 400 SCs or go back to needing 500 SCs?
