Qantas to move to new Perth Airport terminal, expand Perth hub

I would argue a company in a monopolistic position is a muxed blessing at best. Bad for consumers as mentioned, bad for inflationary pressures (higher prices), potentially bad for onbound tourism and thus onemward effect on the economy, employment etc There's a much bigger picture with sych a...

Qantas to move to new Perth Airport terminal, expand Perth hub

Correlation does not equal causation. EY could have pulled out of PER for reasons other than QF doing PER-LHR. Competition from EK and QR for one, more profitable places to put aircraft etc. QF may be a factor, but the sole reason? Well.. EY knows more than us.

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

Only discussed this with a few crew that I've chatted with abd raised it as tactfully as possible so small sample suze but my impression is basically "more of the same" - more or less how many of us feel. Now yes there has been some real efforts, charm offensives, and seemingly a change in...

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

So take it out on the front line who have nothing to do with the policy? That would be a disgrace too - even if it appears more passive agressive than outwardly rude. The policy change is not OK I agree, but it is not their fault. Vote with your wallet iver to VA or others, not give the crew...

    Fare/Upgrade/Status Visibility

As I understand it, P1's show as purple on the QF ipad app.

Didn't expect this to be my breaking point, but it finally came!

Squeaky wheel and all that. Great outcome but should never get to this. Just sad that people have to resort to this kind of activity because the customer "service" can be so poor.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Yep. They won't hold bags overnight like this basically. Some airlines also won't through check with layovers greater than 12 hours.

    QF9 / QF10 Perth

This basically. NZ has the same issue. ME3 work not just on costs and deep pockets, but geography too. Just as SIN and HKG are on routes to Europe and asia. we don't have the pax demand for many of these places, even if we had the planes. Simple. Your connecting carriers like SQ/QR/EK etc...

I was responding to your point about JFK. I did not forget about domestic NZ, but major NZ destinations can still be reached one stop from PER eg WLG/CHC/ZQN. I am sure there is a huge demand for one stop PER-DUD thoigh... Aside, one wonders how long the NZ partnership will last with VA back on...

    QF9 / QF10 Perth

And what do you think the market demand for this is in pax/day? I would imagine there would be more demand for service to LAX and west coast connections from PER than NYC (noting that DFW is also one stop via MEL/SYD) And while NZ do fly a wide on PER-AKL, they also feed their hub. QF have...

    QF28 to QF5 customs clearance

A shadow refers to the seat next to a (usually) hugh status passenger being blocked (ie left vacant) if load permits. Sometimes granted to QF Platinum and above - but in no way to be expected or guaranteed.

    QF9 / QF10 Perth

I doubt there is the premium demand into AMS for QF. FRA.. perhaps-makes more sense as a financial hub and destination, but it is deep into enemy territory with poor feed. HEL? Despite AY.. seems far too north for QF and, well, out of the way (sorry Finns!). I could see AMS ahead of HEL tbh.

Earning status credits with Qantas Points Club

This is due to the AA/QF JV. A few years back (ok 2017) when it was lost for reasons, earn and such was different and earn was devalued (and QF did not codeshare on AA and v.v.) It only resumed after a few years when the US DoT approved a renewed JV application (iirc the first was rejected)...

STN.. for easy connections to... jetstarUK aka EasyJet?! Nope. Can't see it. Even LGW seens a stretch. QF has a small enough presence in London as is. EK and those few others can seeve both but I can't see QF splitting from LHR to another London airport. Tokyo is confusing enough as is imo.

    QF9 / QF10 Perth

I seem to recall, and it would make sense, that slots would be leased on the basis of the IATA seasons ie basically six monthly increments, probably renegoiated on a yearly basis (given forward planning etc) and obviously situations like this where QF have informed BA tgeir intent to take back...
