No fly zone for Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, July 26

Not so obvious to you, joking about it.

    First Qantas A220 revealed

Sort of mirrors the issues with the A380. The largest and the smallest planes both the same impact on customers.

No fly zone for Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, July 26

Well, as a minimum, it’s going to stop summon in Cessna dive bombing into the opening ceremony and exploding a bomb in the middle of everything. it’s not a unique idea and was in place for the London Olympics as well...

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

Fair 'nuf, thanks. But the point & argument is the same.

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

Both of which begs the question of why you stated things which weren’t true when you’re accusing others of doing the same 🥸. Qantas and Emirates both flew to Dubai. Qantas and Emirates entered into a joint-venture. Qantas stopped flying to Dubai. Can you expand again on this statement? Then...

First time on Qatar - my thoughts

That's pretty good, knowingly how tightly they guard access!! Its also why I mentioned to luxury-lizard that if his experience was mine, I would raise it. I understand why LL didn't, but I know from experience QR usually seem to genuinely want to 'make right'.

No fly zone for Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, July 26

All that will be solved when the IOC take over traffic lanes all over the city for their exclusive express use, like they did in Sydney. Have they built any new infrastructure in Paris for the games?

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

Oh, that's for sure!: How many Qantas metal flights are there to Dubai today, compared to when their 'JV" was signed? Like you said ... ;) I maintain my belief that this all isn't serious.

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

You mean VA-QR? That came after the QF-EK agreement was renewed - in fact the renewal was the reason for QR going with VA. Either way, did Australian consumers benefit from the re-approval of a JV on a route where there was no competition?

    AFF Gathering #17 in BNE on 18 - 20 October 2024

We looked at that briefly for Launceston (we had 36 attendees in the end) but its a fair bit more work for the organisers and you can't tell where people will actually want to stay (loyalty memberships etc) so can't promise the numbers to the hotels.

Is it time for the ACCC to lose its power to veto international JVs?

Of course, the more sinister aspect is why there is only ONE Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. How about a bit of competition yourself, Ms Cass-Gottlieb? The role of competition watchdogs should be itself opened up to competition and they should then have to bid for the final...

    Careful around DB (Deutsch Bahn)

That mirrors what others have expressed in their trip reports over the past year. A bit worrying for me, who will be relying on DB to get around this Christmas (first time ever relying on trains ....)

No fly zone for Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, July 26

There is going to be quite a big hole over France for flight paths for the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, due to a 'no fly zone' or 'temporary flight restriction' Flight Cancellations: Area The Size Of Belgium To Be 'No Fly Zone' During Olympics Going to impact LCCs most, with...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I'm not a believer in status runs unless its a matter of bridging a very small gap AND the status is worth having. To me, 150SCs to achieve gold wouldn't be worth doing (cost). But if you intend to travel more than occasionally in the coming year (therefore use the status) and you can do...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Hi @drofico . How many posts do you need to post in the give-away forum. Perhaps we can have a little back-and-forth here to pad the post count :) Ask something about Qantas (as its the Qantas thread).

First time on Qatar - my thoughts

As you've probably read, the non QR OWE lounge at DOH is a bit of a come-down. But a lounge is a lounge for a saving of $$$ 😊 @luxury-lizard if your experience on the flight happened to me, I'd try to make some fuss about it. Not sure about the communication channels though - not call...

SkyBus gone up again [Now $23.90 one way]

Yes. A number of pick-up points in the CBD; only 2/6 directly related to large hotels, but the CBD is small and most large hotels are within a block or two of the route. https://www.skybus.com.au/hobart-express/

First time on Qatar - my thoughts

That sounds a terrible experience, esp in F. Never, ever, not had true dine on demand in J or F. The only good thing was that you didn't need to deal with the QR call centre. :) You shouldn't have to use it, but I've used the Al Maha arrival service (escorted and whisked through...

Qantas QF7 retimed to 11.50am departure from Sydney

It makes all the difference when dealing with airlines, especially Qantas. A points ticket will only be accommodated by the next available point seats that are available if you’re lucky. A revenue seat can be accommodated by a new revenue seat which are far far far more numerous. <redacted>
