Just by applying for a credit card and paying the annual fee, you can earn thousands of frequent flyer points towards your next trip.

If you’re thinking about applying for a new credit card, why not take advantage of these great sign-up deals and top up your frequent flyer points? To help you out, here is a selection of the top Australian credit card sign-up deals for July 2018:

1. Westpac Altitude Black MasterCard & Amex Bundle – 120,000 Qantas points

Earn up to 120,000 bonus Qantas points with the Westpac Altitude Black MasterCard and American Express bundle. That’s almost enough Qantas points for a round-the-world trip in Economy class! You can earn 80,000 bonus Qantas (or Altitude) points with a new Westpac Altitude Black credit card. You can also earn an additional 40,000 bonus points by bundling this with the new American Express Westpac Altitude Black card. These cards have annual fees of $250 and $199 respectively. There’s also a $50 fee to opt-in to Qantas rewards, meaning the total fees paid would be $499. To earn the full bonus points, you would need to spend $3,000 on each card within 90 days of approval. These credit cards also come with four annual lounge passes, including two Amex Lounge visits with the Amex Altitude Black card.

If you’d rather not apply for an Amex Westpac card, you can still earn 80,000 points with just the Westpac Altitude Black product. This offer expires on 23 October 2018.

2. St George Amplify Signature – 90,000 Qantas points

For an annual card fee of $279, you can earn 90,000 Qantas points with this offer. That’s enough points for a return Economy class flight from Melbourne to Dubai or San Francisco, or almost 3 return Business class flights between Sydney and Brisbane. The St George Amplify Signature card also comes with two annual Qantas Club passes. To receive the points you’ll need to spend $4,000 within 90 days of approval.

Bank of Melbourne and BankSA (which, along with St George Bank, are owned by Westpac) are also offering similar sign-up deals at present. There’s also an offer of 90,000 Amplify points when opting in to Amplify Rewards, but these are only worth 45,000 points when transferred to Virgin Velocity, KrisFlyer or Malaysia Airlines Enrich. (Note that there are currently some issues with transfers from Amplify Rewards to KrisFlyer.) This offer expires on 26 September 2018.

3. NAB Rewards Qantas Signature – 90,000 Qantas points

You can also earn 90,000 Qantas points this month with the NAB Rewards Qantas Signature card. This has a $395 annual fee which is currently being reduced to $295 for the first year. To earn the bonus points you would need to spend at least $4,000 within 60 days of opening the card. No expiry date has been listed for this offer.

4. Qantas Premier – 80,000 Qantas points

This card is offering 80,000 Qantas sign-up points and has an annual fee of $299. The Qantas Premier credit card also comes with two annual Qantas Club passes, although you’ll only earn 1 Qantas point per dollar on the first $10,000 spent on the card each month. To earn the full amount of bonus points, you would need to spend $3,500 on the card each month for the first two months. This offer has been extended until 31 August 2018.

5. ANZ Frequent Flyer Black – 75,000 Qantas points

This is a great deal from ANZ. You can earn 75,000 Qantas points by applying for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card and making just one eligible purchase within 3 months. No minimum spend applies to earn the bonus sign-up points. 75,000 Qantas points is enough for a return Qantas Business class flight from the east coast of Australia to New Zealand or Perth. This card has a $425 annual fee but as part of the sign-up deal, you’ll also receive $200 back after spending on the card. No expiry date has been listed for this offer.

It just so happens that most of the best credit card sign-up deals for July 2018 come with Qantas Frequent Flyer points. But there are a few other deals available if you’re after a different frequent flyer currency. For example, you can currently earn up to 80,000 Velocity points with a Virgin Money High Flyer credit card. Or earn up to 60,000 Emirates Skywards miles with an Emirates Citi World card.
