Frequent Flyer v Pleasant Flyer
Many of our members may be frequent flyers but are they PLEASANT FLYERS? Hogging the armrest, littering and removing their shoes seem to be our member’s major pitfalls.

   The Christening of V Australia

Virgin Blue finally has a name for their proposed new international airline. After scouring the nation for a name, which would fit in with the Virgin Blue ethos, the winning name is V Australia. For some, however, it sounds more like an energy drink than an airline, or perhaps even a music channel!

The competition attracted approximately 5942 entries, which included some especially creative suggestions such as Randy Roo Airlines, Choo Choo Flying Big Blue and Pineapple Airlines. The launch aircraft is set to be named Didgeree Blue.

Whilst there are varying opinions on Virgins choice of name, a number of advantages of the proposed new airline are undeniable. V Australia is expected to lure more American tourist’s Down Under by increasing capacity and competition within the trans-pacific route. V Australia is also expected to create almost 1,200 Australian jobs.

V Australia now has Australian regulatory approval to fly return, non-stop flights on the Australia - US route by late next year. The airline is now awaiting approval from US regulators.

For frequent flyers it seems like your Velocity membership card could soon become a whole lot more useful.
