   First Class Refresher

How much do you expect for the extra money spent on a first class ticket? Does a larger range of complimentary beverages do it for you? A fancier amenities kit than economy? Or is the extra leg room simply enough? According to British Airways, first class flyers are expecting a better and more luxurious service for their extra dollars. British Airways have engaged in a complete revamping of their first class services. The result? A no expenses spared top notch service, with Egyptian cotton sheets to boot!

The first class refresher began with the roll out of a personalised turn-down service on flights after 19.30 or of more than 10 hours duration. On request, the cabin crew will now lay out a mattress, duvet and pillow, all with the finest Egyptian cotton coverings. New sleeper suits, also made from high quality cotton, and slippers in navy blue with camel trim, are available on turn-down service routes. The menu has taken on a new flavour with a wider selection of canapés and a ‘lighter options’ choice offered on late-night departures, and includes dishes such as lobster thermidor and roasted Cornish game hen. A ‘catch of the day’ fresh fish meal option has also been introduced.

The freshen up is part of a series of product enhancements planned over the next 18 months, including the re-launch of Club World and the introduction of an audio visual on demand in-flight entertainment system.

It seems in today’s highly competitive market more leg room and imported beer will no longer suffice. First class flyers demand good food, great entertainment and comfortable pyjamas!
