A Jumpstart on Jetlag

Possibly the worst side effect of long-haul travel is the dreaded jet lag. Frequent-flyers will be happy to hear that Boeing and Airbus are making headways in eliminating some of the significant factors that cause jet lag.

Airplanes are pressurised to an altitude of 8000ft and have extremely low humidity (around 5%), which is designed to help limit corrosion damage to the fuselage. The altitude, low humidity and the presence of volatile organic compounds in the air cause varying levels of discomfort for long-haul passengers, as well as the phenomenon of Jetlag.

The new Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 are set to re-invent the flying experience, with the purpose of reducing the levels of jetlag and dehydration commonly experienced on long-haul flights. The new jets are set to have a pressurisation altitude of 6000ft and humidity levels of about 20%.

The new Boeing has also installed a world-first filtration system for its 787 that removes gaseous irritants and odours from the aircraft cabin, as well as allergies, bacteria and viruses and it looks like airbus is set to follow suit.

This should means passengers should soon be arriving at their destination in much better shape. Be sure to check out Flight Recovery available from the Frequent Flyer Store.
