Brushing Broome to points further N
Trip report by JohnM | It's getting a bit cold in the SW, so I had started itching for a trip N. My Initial plan was to head to Cape Leveque, north of Broome, as I had not been up that cape before and I hear good things. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member kyle from Melbourne. kyle joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2006 and has so far made 1,268 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: My last domestic short-break was to Sydney in March 2021. Had a wonderful stay at Sofitel Darling Harbour and some great meals at The Star. I wanted to go to Queensland but I figured that NSW was a safer bet with a lesser chance of sudden border closures. For international, it was Singapore and the Maldives in late January 2020/early February 2020. We made it back just when the borders started closing.

Q: Where will you go when the current travel restrictions are lifted?
A: That's a tough one. If money is no issue, we would definitely go back to the Maldives and stay at Conrad Rangali Island again. It's just pure relaxation. I can be barefoot 24/7 from arrival to departure. If not Maldives, Japan is definitely there at the top of the list. I am missing the Japanese cuisine, fruits and cakes/pastries (that you find at the basement of department stores).

Q: Favourite airline?
A: I'm torn between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines. I think I have to give it to Singapore Airlines  for their "Book the Cook" service and the international connections.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Chasing points and statuses is not the be all and end all. You have to be flexible and recognise your own changing circumstances and needs, and make sound choices to suit. AFF has all the resources you need to do that.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: I think my favourite or most useful thread has been How do Hilton treat you as an elite?. It was through this thread that I actually dipped my toes into getting the former Macquarie/Hilton credit card and eventually reaching Diamond status after the $40K spend threshold. Sadly, I'm likely to lose Diamond as I haven't stayed at a Hilton hotel since February 2020. I love reading about all the Diamond perks at different Hilton Group hotels around the world and how they compare with some of the meagre offerings here.
