Coronavirus
update |
The
events of the past few weeks have been shocking and unexpected for many of us. Things will get better, but in the meantime, the coronavirus will continue to impact the airline & tourism industries, the economy and our daily lives in ways we've never seen before. There has been lots of discussion on our forums about coronavirus in recent weeks, which is completely understandable. To ensure our members can easily find information, we've created a new Coronavirus
(COVID-19) Discussion forum with sub-categories. The coming weeks and months will be difficult for everybody. But you're not alone. If you're currently in self-isolation, you can share tips and experiences with others in the same situation in our "I
am in self-isolation" thread. If you would like to offer your assistance to other AFF members - or if you need help - you are also welcome to participate in the "Do
you need a hand?" thread. The situation continues to evolve rapidly. For the foreseeable future, we'll include a summary of the latest travel-related news with each edition of The Frequent Flyer Gazette. |

A DYKWIA Trapped in Blighty |
Trip
report by TonyHancock | 2020 was supposed to be my Annus mirabilis, my swan song or even my grand finale. After more than 12 years of almost constant travel my retirement beckoned. How I yearned for my days of freedom, admittedly Griselda was still in negotiations with British Airways over something called "status", I didn’t want the "Qantas Scenario" to occur whereby I was to be denied importance by some pen pusher. British Airways clearly need to recognise my importance when I retire. read

Q:
Most recent flight? |
A:
To Tel Aviv for work. It was meant to be QF to LHR and then BA to TLV. However, due to QF9 departing late (and arriving late into LHR) I missed my connection and was shunted onto LX from LHR to Zurich and then LY from there to TLV. |
Q:
What's still on your bucket list? |
A:
The
Jura region of France. I've been in love with the wine from the region and the scenery there looks amazing. |
Q:
What's one thing you would never travel overseas without? |
A:
Only one thing?! A sense of humour and a sense of adventure. Things sometimes don't go to plan. Take that as an opportunity for a new experience and make the most of it. |
Q:
What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member? |
A:
You
get out of AFF what you put in. It might seem a bit daunting to post initially and your question might seem basic, bit this builds up a huge body of knowledge for us all to benefit from. |
Q:
Favourite thread on AFF? |
A: The
view from my "office" - I love seeing what fellow AFF members are up to. I've also found it to be an amazing source of inspiration for places I'd like to see and experiences to try. |
