What's Your Best Free Travel Upgrade?
When you're flying, there aren't many better feelings than getting a surprise beep at the gate and being handed a new boarding pass for a better seat up the front!

The same goes for booking a cheap hotel room but being upgraded to a luxurious suite... or perhaps booking a budget rental car and receiving a free upgrade to a luxury sports car instead.

AFF Community Round-Up
All AFF members will see no ads this week!
As you may already be aware, all paid AFF SILVER and GOLD members do not see any advertisements on AFF article or forum pages.

Given that many of our members (especially Victorians) are currently stuck at home spending hours online, we thought it would be a good time for our non-paid members to experience an ad-free and uncluttered AFF too. So, for this week only, ALL current AFF members will see no ads on AFF. No strings attached, no subscription required, no credit card, no nothing! Simply log into your AFF account (if you haven't already) and experience the difference!

We know this is a small gesture, but we hope it will provide some benefit and enjoyment at this difficult time. Please note that this offer only applies to existing AFF members that already had an account yesterday.

Thank you for contributing to AFF over the last few months. This hasn't been an easy time for anyone - but your continual engagement with our community is a reminder of why we love travel and that we can look forward to better days ahead. Stay safe, thank you and enjoy! read more...

Plane, train and automobile - instead of southern Africa it's off to FNQ
Trip report by bpeteb | Neither of us could cancel the holidays that we had booked (we could shorten them by a week) so instead of flying to JNB for our Intrepid Explore Southern Africa overland tour we headed to Cairns and places north for two and a half weeks. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week, we interviewed AFF member craven morehead from the Central Highlands of Queensland. craven morehead joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2008 and has so far made 1,902 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: South Africa (my last ever 747 flights).

Q: Where will you go when the current travel bans are lifted?
A: In light of 3 cancelled overseas trips this year I'll nominate the points trip I had booked in J to Singapore (visiting friends) & Phuket (catching up with friends we haven't seen for 20 years) in February 2021 - just because it means we can actually go somewhere.

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Hard to go past Emirates with their First & Business products being pretty damn good along with very decent lounges. Honorable mentions to both Cathay Pacific & Finnair.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Two things: Ask lots of questions, we have some very seasoned travellers among our group. And secondly, tune in to the very informative AFF On Air Podcast.

Q: Favourite forum on AFF?
A: Hands down my favourite forum on AFF is the Trip Reports. Pre-Covid this was my go-to thread for my daily fix on all things travel. It's great to see the World through other peoples' eyes even if it's a country you have already visited. And if it's a place you are thinking of visiting you will pick up many tips from those who have gone before.
