Qantas Mulls New Benefits to Reward Long-Term Loyalty
Qantas is considering introducing new lifetime benefits to reward customers that are loyal over a long period of time. Ideas being floated include banked years of Platinum or Platinum One status, and even a status credit "superannuation" fund.

The new benefits would be designed to reward frequent flyers that remain loyal to Qantas over many years, and provide an additional incentive to keep flying Qantas after reaching lifetime Gold status.

Qantas A380 Upgrade Adds 7% Revenue
Qantas recently upgraded the first of its twelve Airbus A380s with new Business and Premium Economy seats, and refreshed Economy and First Class cabins. The mid-life refresh is a win for passengers, especially Business class passengers who can now enjoy much better seats with direct aisle access and a new upper-deck lounge. But it's also a win-win for the airline, with the additional premium seats allowing the airline to earn significantly more...

Featured AFF Member Trip Reports
Seoul, Hong Kong and Bangkok
Trip report by Matt_01 | Still playing catch up on trip reports. This one is Seoul, Hong Kong and Bangkok, quite a generic report and one of the first attempts of just using photos I have taken, i.e not just using MrsM photos so there may be a few gaps. The trip was a booked about 10 months out on redemption tickets. read more...
Cliveden House
Hotel review by Princess Fiona | Originally built in 1666 for the 2nd Duke of Buckingham as a hunting lodge and place to entertain his mistresses. Cliveden House (pronounce the "live" as in "to live") has seen its fair share of scandal and debauchery over the centuries. It's now growing old disgracefully as a boutique hotel set amidst vast National Trust grounds. If you get the chance to stay here I would grab it. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week, we interviewed AFF member nickfromeastryde from Sydney. nickfromeastryde joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2010 and has so far made 662 posts.

Q: Most recent trip?
A: A 280K oneworld award visiting Japan, USA, Mexico, Colombia and, taking the long way home, Spain. We flew a combination of airlines: JAL, American, LATAM, Iberia and Qatar.

Q: What's still on your bucket list?
A: Definitely Iceland and Scandinavia. We had a trip booked for last March/April but had to cancel due to family reasons. The opportunity to see the Northern Lights as well as many of the winter activities such as ice caves and tunnels, dog sledding and generally avoiding the large crowds is to me very attractive. Polar bears though will probably have to wait for a different trip. For some strange and warped reason, the idea of spending a holiday in a freezing climate is something that excites both Mrs Nick and myself. We have so far avoided prolonged periods of very cold weather through our travels and as we are both Sydney born and bred it is not something we have grown up with.

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: As all my current travel is non-business, I'd have to say my wife. Other than Mrs Nick, my music playlists (I struggle to watch more than 3/4 hours of IFE on long haul flights) and a good collection of debit and credit cards so I never come up short.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Don't be scared to ask questions, the knowledge that many of the contributors on AFF possess is mind-boggling and almost unanimously they are 100% happy to share that knowledge to those of us that are less experienced.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: Definitely the Oneworld Award Planning thread. From being an absolute novice as recently as 2014, I have managed to book three of these trips since 2015 and hope to complete quite a few more in the years to come.
