AFF Member Profile
This week, we interviewed AFF member burmans from Sydney. burmans joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2006 and has so far made 6,518 posts.

Q: Most recent flight?
A: Have had a number of trips across the Tasman but my most recent serious trip was to South Korea via Beijing. Having worked there at the start of the 90's I wasn't overly keen to return but my daughter had been on university exchange there and loved it, so persuaded us to take a family trip. I am so glad we did, it has changed enormously and is now a very happening place though sadly no longer cheap. We flew Qantas to Beijing then Asiana for the Beijing to Busan leg.

Q: Favourite destination?
A: This is a hard one for me as I prefer to seek out new places. I do love Eastern Europe, far less touristed while having similar great historical and cultural attractions at a third of the price of Western Europe though that too is changing. Also love Asia with Sri Lanka being a recent highlight.

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: My phone, not for use as a phone but for sights/food recommendations and downloaded maps are a huge bonus for getting around. Given I love to walk and get lost in local neighbourhoods these are a boon to finding my way back home again.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Don't just join one frequent flyer program and don't ignore any opportunities to earn points. I don't fly anywhere as much as some here but have more points than I can reasonably use in the next couple of years thanks to advice on AFF and a few other blogs.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: Not really a thread but a forum. Because I don't fly as much as some, credit cards are where I have earned the bulk of my points so I always watch Current Credit Card Promotions. And for old times sake, this thread on US Dividend Miles was what first got me seriously into reading this forum (and others) and got me into points hacking. While US Airways Dividend Miles is long gone, some of the ideas live on, though I do miss the Grand Slam.
