New Podcast Episode: HARS - Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (AIR023)
Find Cheap Flights Like a Pro with ITA Matrix
One of the most common questions I get asked is: "How do you find cheap flights?"

There are lots of useful websites and tools that can help you to find cheap flights. For example, Google Flights is user-friendly and has some excellent features. Skyscanner is also easy-to-use and is good at finding low airfares. But ITA Matrix is the secret weapon that I find to be the most powerful and useful website overall for finding cheap airfares.

Qantas Reduces A380 Flights to Hong Kong
Qantas will move its Airbus A380 onto the Sydney-Hong Kong route two weeks later than scheduled this summer. Qantas had planned to upgrade one of its daily Sydney-Hong Kong flights, QF127 and the return QF128, to an Airbus A380 from 4 December 2019. This was due to replace the Boeing 787-9. However, Qantas will now only use Airbus A380s on this route from 18 December. At this stage, Airbus A380s are more...
HARS to Add John Travolta's Boeing 707
The Historic Aircraft Restoration Society, or HARS, is most famous for its Boeing 747-400 donated by Qantas in 2015. VH-OJA, named "City of Canberra", was Qantas' first Boeing 747-400 and the aircraft to complete a record-breaking non-stop flight from London to Sydney in 1989. HARS, located at Illawara Regional Airport near Wollongong, is also home to around 60 other historic aircraft. These include a Super more...

AFF Member Profile
This week, we interviewed AFF member docjames from Melbourne. docjames joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2007 and has so far made 8,663 posts.

Q: Most recent flight?
A: A day trip MEL-SYD-MEL for a meeting held at the Qantas Meeting rooms. Flying Qantas.

Q: Favourite destination?
A: New York - always more to explore and to do even though I've been there plenty of times. Hopefully next year I can actually find time to explore the north east out of NY all the way up the coast to Canada.

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: I always take a book or magazine to read - too many flights have no (or a failed) in-flight entertainment system, and with too much cloud to look out the window.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Try to engage with the community on a variety of topics rather than just arriving on a rant.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: I really find the travel resources sub-forums useful, particularly the hotel reviews and the trip reports - lots of "warts and all" about places I am heading to. It's also just interesting reading about places I'd be unlikely to go to (but are fascinating nonetheless).
