The Death of Double Status Credits?
Double status credits promotions have been a regular staple of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program over recent years. Last year, for example, Qantas ran no fewer than three public double status credit offers! These promos have been extremely popular with frequent flyers as they make it easier to earn or retain Qantas Frequent Flyer status.

But if you're hanging out for another double Qantas status credits offer, you may be in for some bad news. It seems Qantas Frequent Flyer is no longer running these promotions - at least, not in the same way as before.

How the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee Works
Did you know that Jetstar offers a Price Beat Guarantee? If a competing airline has a cheaper flight on the same route, you can fly Jetstar for 10% off the competitor's airfare. Using the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee, you can get some seriously cheap airfares. It's particularly useful for matching excellent sales offered by other airlines - such as Tigerair's Saturday Flight Fever fares. The Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee exists so that Jetstar can more...
Temporary KrisFlyer Lounge in Singapore
At the beginning of August, Singapore Airlines started its much-anticipated lounge refurbishments at its home base of Singapore Changi Airport. While the Singapore Airlines lounges are being refurbished, the airline has opened a temporary, alternative KrisFlyer Gold lounge. The entire lounge renovation project at Changi Airport is expected to be completed by mid-2021. Work has already begun on the refurbishment of the more...

The 5 Stans of the Silk Road
Trip report by RooFlyer | Finally! I've done a bit of travelling over the past 10 years, including to some pretty good destinations, including Iran, the Galapagos, Russia etc. But I don't think I've ever looked forward to trip like the one I leave on today - The 5 Stans of the silk road, a tour by Exodus Travels . To make it better, I'm travelling with my mate @JohnM, who introduced me to the tour. read more...
The view from the other side...
Trip report by jb747 | Well, six months down the road from retiring, and I ventured back on to a QF A380, for a 'boys trip' to Las Vegas with my son. The impulse to just wander around as if I owned the aircraft is still pretty strong. We booked in PE. Commercial tickets, just like everyone else. Contrary to the opinion of some on here, staff travel is a really good way to ruin a holiday. I chose seats 28A/B, after looking through one of the aircraft before I retired. My logic was mainly that there was nobody read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week, we interview AFF member harvyk from Canberra. harvyk joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2009 and so far has made 6,587 posts.

Q: Most recent flight?
A: Ignoring the short hop domestics, my last big trip was to Washington DC. I flew Qantas and Alaska Airlines to get there, and American Airlines and Qantas to get back.

Q: Favourite destination?
A: I love Hong Kong. I love the food, I love the architecture, I love the way the lights just hit you as you leave the MTR stations in Kowloon.

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: A good set of headphones and a two pin adapter. I've lost count of the number of broken headphones I've received from airlines, especially in Economy. I've been buying Sennheisers for years, I find them to sound pretty good without emptying my wallet.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Go to the drinks and dinners. That's where all the best discussions are held.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: This one's easy - Ask The Pilot. I love hearing about what actually makes planes, airlines and ATC work. How pilots deal with certain situations. Not that I was ever a nervous flyer, but there is a great deal of comfort to be had reading that thread.
