I haven't seen this discussed much on AFF if at all. The hotel loyalty programs must be grinning from ear to ear. ;)

I made 2 international award bookings last night and received a separate email with each booking including a $30 voucher from Qantas hotels. I have received this email before when I booked some reward flights earlier this year for my wife. It appears to be triggered by one way bookings.

The email makes mention of the destination and the dates. Reading the terms and conditions there is no mention that it's strictly only for the destination and dates listed. It also mentions the voucher is transferrable but cannot be sold.

When making a booking you can change destination and/dates and applying the voucher is still valid. I get very excited about booking a ~AUD38/night hotel for ~AUD8/night including free shuttle to/from BKK airport.

Any thoughts?

I would imagine you would be far from excited once you checked in and saw a room in BKK that only cost A$38 - so about US$26, less the transfer of say $6. So a US$20 room - you're in a dorm on Khoa San Rd..... :)

I do not think it is triggered by one way redemptions as I got the offer booking a return redemption for my family.
I did use the voucher and saved the money off one night stay at an airport hotel, around 20% saving and there was no difference in pricing using the Qantas website.:D

I get the $30 email after every booking I make, no matter if it's Dom or Int, one way or return.

Not quite. I have stayed at the Regent Suvarnabhumi hotel in Ladkrabang in the past and I have no issues with hotel or the breakfast they serve if you choose that option. Quiet hotel and at ~AUD8/night who is complaining!

I didn't realise other people were getting these offers regularly. For me it's random and I do make quite a few bookings in the course of a year.

Interesting it's not discussed that much because to me $30 off is $30 off.

Yep I was being quite tongue-in-check! I've also stayed in some quite reasonable small hotels there for not much!

I also get these QF Hotels $30 offers regularly (mainly Int'l but occasionally Dom). I also usually get a promo email from 'Qantas Cash' telling me that 'HKG $ are available' (or whatever $ are appropriate) about 2-3 weeks before departure (this morning in this case). Rarely with any discount offer however but occasionally with bonus QFFF points......

I've gotten the email on every QF booking I've made over the last few months.

I've only ever received these emails for bookings for flights into Australia, never ex.

I have never received a hotel $ off voucher/code after making a flight booking on the QF website.
Just a generic marketing email highlighting a select few hotels available to book at the selected destination.

Yet on JQ, I always receive a hotel $ off voucher/code after making a booking on their website, which I often use for destinations that I wasn't flying to on that specific booking.

Hopefully QF will start to show me the same love that JQ shows.

I would love to book through QF hotels more often as Many hotels earn QFF points, whereas no hotels on JQ hotels earn points.

NB: Qantas hotels, Jetstar Hotels & Hoo-roo all charge as Hoo-Roo pty ltd on the credit card I've noticed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
