Hi all,

Work is paying for a return trip to Singapore in late Feb... Was hoping to use my points to upgrade to Business but if I've read the tea leaves correctly:
  • Code share flights aren't eligible for upgrades (so I can't book a Singapore Airlines flight via. Virgin's website and then upgrade)
  • If I book via. Singapore directly, I can't use my VFF points to upgrade
  • If I transfer my points to KrisFlyer, I can still only upgrade a single class... it seems all MEL-SIN now offer premium economy so there's no possible way to upgrade to business?
Am I reading this correctly... ie. if work pays for a return Full Economy fare with either Virgin or Singapore I have *no* way to use my VFF points to upgrade to business?

Cheers,

Tom

AFAIK, premium economy is not yet being sold on SQ 237/8 . This is late morning ex-MEL and late evening ex-SIN. Also the thrice weekly (Fri Sat Sun) SQ 247/8 don’t have Y+ but they are only regional business class product ... on A330.

It appears you are spot-on dajop... I assumed it had just sold out on those particular flights, but going backwards and forwards, there aren't ever premium economy seats on those codes. Thank you!

Anyone upgraded on SA before, is it an easy/guaranteed process?

Cheers,

Tom

Both easy and guaranteed. If you can see a redemption available, then the same seat will be available for upgrade, and you can secure it immediately. If a redemption shows as waitlisted, then you to will have to waitlist for an upgrade

Thanks n7of9... Finally, is a transfer of points from Virgin to Kris near enough to instantaneous?

Cheers,

Tom

Provided your fare allows upgrades you can (as others have said) transfer the required number of VFF points (the transfer section on the Velocity website calculates how many VFF points convert to KF points). I've transferred to KF a few times, it goes through in seconds. My recent upgrade was from PE to J, had to do it over the phone though but it was easy done.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
