Wish and Coles Myer balance checks offline

Anyone seen this or know why? Wish balance and transaction history has been offline for two days, and now Coles Myer gift cards since yesterday.

Same for me. But i know I checked balances within the last 24 hours.

The WW phone check system does work but is pretty clunky

The Woolworths Money app is working again for me but the website is still not functional, nor is my central app where I track all balances. This makes it really annoying to track mine and missus' balances.

I've just used the 1300304990 number for Coles to check balance. Slow process but works OK.

Several people posted on this Ozbargain thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269932?page=2#comment that the Dan Murphy gift cards they'd bought for the Amex promotion had been emptied out i.e. the funds had already been used, and there was a possibility the Wish gift card system had been compromised. The online balance check went down for a period shortly afterwards (on 24/10), but don't know whether any of that is related to the current problem.

I've spoken to Woolies. It is related. Some of my cards were effected.

Yep, I've seen a lot of online balance checker websites go 'missing' over the last few years. If their security isn't good, it's simple enough to try numerous combinations until you get a match, drain that account and then profit!

Tweeted both Woolworths and Coles. The former hasn't replied. The latter has, after a couple of nudges and also a separate problem (which is a huge pain, but off topic). Basically no ETA. I pointed out that Woolworths has an app that still works and they're lagging on that.

Hilariously they added captcha... but the captcha does not get checked and so bruteforcing for valid card numbers and pins is still 100% possible ... which was why they had to take it down to begin with.

Coles-Myer balance check link at giftcards.com.au is back up. The also have added one of those tick-and-wait-but-no-entry-required CAPTCHAs.

And - for me at least - it doesn't actually work. The page just refreshes every time I submit set of card details.
