Wineries around Hobart

When in town I usually visit Stefano Lubiana.

Looking for recommendations for other good wineries around Hobart and on the way to Port Arthur.
Interested mostly in high quality Pinots.
 
Was down there a week ago and visited Frogmore Creek which was great as well Pooleys.

Craigow is also worth a call in and they may show some back vintages if you ask nicely.
 
Pooley is fantastic. Went to about 4 or 5 a handful of years ago and they were all great, will have to re-visit the old pictures and come back to you

There are possibly no wineries direct on the road to Port Arthur from Hobart. See the Southern Wine Trail map here.

I haven't been to Cape Bernier or Bangor which are on the Tasman Peninsula - the Bangor Oyster Shed sounds interesting!

I agree with the others that you have to go up the Coal River Valley for the best experiences - Pooley's is terrific (go for the VIP Wine Tasting - $19), and Frogmore Creek is good too. If you keep driving on the dirt road past Frogmore Creek, towards the Radio antennae, you'll come to Riverdale, whoch is a bit different. Both those two would be good for lunch.
 
It's a while since I've tired their wines but Bream Creek is excellent. (I recently got their pinot - at home, but am "saving it"). :)
 
Observatory Hill run by Chris (Christine) and Glen is superb and really friendly. They are about 5 minutes out of Hobart on the way to Airport.

We recently went to Bangor at Dunnalley and it was excellent including great food.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
This is what I'm thinking to do in the first two days:

First day drive strait from the airport towards Richmond with stops at Frogmore (lunch), Pooly and finish at Riversdale.

Second day drive to Port Arthur with stops at Observatory Hill, Bream Creek (lunch at Dunalley cafe) and Bangor because you can't visit Tasmania and not have some fresh oysters ;)

Since I'll be doing all the driving it's probably good idea to visit no more than three wineries per day.

Any more suggestions are most welcomed.

P.S. I didn't forget about the distillers :)
Will visit some on the day we stay in Hobart.

Is Home Hill outside Huonville classed as 'around Hobart'? Worth a visit - they have a great restaurant and you can pick up a bottle of the 2014 Kelly's Reserve Pinot Noir while you're there.

It is the opposite direction from Hobart to Port Arthur but my be ok during the stay in Hobart - about 40 - 45 minutes I think. The 2014 Kelly's reserve is long sold out - unless you have some inside knowledge?

I was there in early April and had no trouble getting some at the cellar door (limited to one per person) but yes I would not be surprised if they were sold out by now.

Following this post I visited Home Hill today and managed to pick up 2 of the '14 Kelly's Reserve but think I was lucky as I was told there was a limit of one. I was also told they only have about 400 bottles left
 
For those living in/visiting the Hobart region I called into the Shoreline Hotel and bottle shop today and left with some 2006 and 2007 Rockford local growers Semilon for $28- along with some aged Riesling at $30.20. They have 2012 Basket Press, 2013 Rifle Range and Black Shiraz but these are marked up a fair bit. (BP was $90- from memory) I also noticed some 2007 Bin 707 for approx $270
