So what happens with the Emergency exit rows?
I would imagine that they would still be there and have a small window in the door for viewing in case of electrical failure. The argument would be, I think, that the number of hull openings would only be 10 or 12 instead of 70 or 80. After all I assume that this is way military transports operate but without any screens for outside views?

If they were all virtual windows, couldn't they actually be bigger then the current real windows? I'd have no problem with this if there were no safety issues, especially if they were all large 'panoramic' virtual windows.

Not a proposal. That aircraft is already flying, with fake windows in the central First cabins.

But I think I'd be quite happy with that over the whole plane. Possibly even a strip that goes the length of the aircraft.

You could even overlay the picture with graphics - eg. Speed on takeoff roll, next stop on takeoff etc.

Just need to satisfy the regulators on the safety aspects in an emergency.

Windows have historically been a weak point.
The alarming reason plane windows were changed from square to round

Noting they're virtual windows I reckon the virtual window shades would be pulled down very quickly after the meal service.

And if your sick of the advertisements shown before every movie, just look out of the virtual window.....where they’d be shown too !

Don't worry about those suffering from claustrophobia. They'll be ok knowing they are looking out a virtual window.

Imagine 18 hours with this error on your screen

Do not like the idea what about being able to see out and or in during an emergency? How much darker would it be and therefore more difficult to get out with no light from the windows. Rescue people wouldn't be able to see what was happening inside, fire, damage, injuries etc.

On top of that how will you get to sneak a peak out the window once locked down for the night by cabin crew.

Please leave real windows with real window shades for real passengers not virtual passengers.

A cynic might suggest that with Emirates , you don't really want to see what's happening out side..
The slaves that’re rowing those big turbofans are inside, under the floor, aren’t they?

Wow, you wait that long?
My recent observation has been people pulling-down the shades as soon as (or before) the hosties allow it ...

Depressing.

There is an underground bar at Wynyard station in Sydney, if I go, there are at least people to watch, not just the back of the seat in front with yet another screen.
