After our June trip in Suites/First, we've developed a bit of a reputation for premium travel, but unfortunately we cannot travel up the front all of the time. We'd been hoping to head to Chicago for a white Christmas, and a rather well-timed AA/JAL sale made it possible. First we nabbed flights from TPE through to ORD and back; all in Y  on a combination of AA and JAL. Then we had to work out how on earth to get to Taipei and home again. With a mixture of cash and points, we managed to put together a long but workable trip.

Day 1: MEL-SYD-HKG-TPE (QF to HKG then CX to TPE)
Day 2: TPE-NRT-ORD (JAL then AA)

Then on the home trip
Day 1: ORD-RSW (AA)
Day 2: RSW-DFW-NRT-TPE (AA to NRT, then JAL to TPE)
Day 3: TPE-HKG-SIN-SYD-MEL (CX to SIN, BA to SYD then QF to MEL; this is the only lot in J).

We're in for one heck of an adventure.

Love your adventures so coming along for the ride - I'm hoping for a white Christmas in Italy so will write my TR later

Is the whole thing in Y?

take lots of pictures! And hope to see you in SYD J lounge on Thursday

That's a lot of Y! I'm sure the rest of the trip will be filled with finer food experiences.

Those are some LONG sectors! Feels even longer when people recline immediately after take off! Are there any new planes or airlines for you on this trip?

AA Dreamliner from NRT-ORD should ease some of the pain, especially with seats in MCE.

Eeek that's a lot of Y getting there! Looking forward to reading about the adventure.

Despite most of the flying being in Y, the wonderful lounges in HKG & NRT really do numb the pain when travelling with OW airlines. Sounds like another epic adventure!

We have a 5 hour layover in HKG so I look forward to trying all the J lounges.

I'm aiming for the AMEX lounge so I can maintain my record of never having been to the SYD J lounge, just the F lounge :D:mrgreen:

I have an extra entry if you would like to see the amex lounge

CX is a new carrier for both of us
